hello bros and sis, just to ask .. i am not really a tight-fisted man but more of a practical person by nature...saw the amt of money cnc charges for the engine oil needed for our cars...nearly amting to $160, can i bring my own engine oil (prefer Mobil 1 or X Rev) to cnc and ask them to fill in for me....... the engine oil filter can i buy it outside since i know i can get a better price..... See, i bought my car 2nd hand and no service credits for me but the car is still under 3 yrs warranty ....... so no choice but to go back to them but why must ispend tt kind of money for the engine oil?????

makes no sense bros.......

mate, most of the SERVICE in a car usually involves an oil change, cleaning and/ or replacing air filter and changing the oil filter... anyone can do it... checking brakes etc and using diognistics is not an issue.... so chill... we went to Star Black and there are a few more garage's that are very good... remember, its an oil change, get the oil you want etc and head down to a garage that you trust...

since under warranty, suggest u go back to agent. Once out, you can choose to goto any workshop you are comfortable with.

During servicing, you can ask for Mobil 1 else you get Shell Helix.

I go to CnC for my servicing during warranty due mainly to 2 reasons.

1. Service credits from CnC

2. Get the CnC service stamped on the Vehicle Service Booklet - so that the service booklet has the history of been serviced at the AD.

If things breakdown during the warranty period - I will definitely go back to CnC to get them to rectify the problem.

For 1st servicing @ 1000K outside at MBM wheelpower to change engine oil to mbil 1, any bro any idea how much is being charged?

I ever did one servicing of my previous W211 with MBM - Mobil 1 for slightly over S$200.

Why need to change at 1K km?

Why not try out Starblack?:becky:

Unless it is jap car, then u need servicing at 1000km. For Merc, U only need servicing at 15000km, wheel rotation at 5000km. (C&C told me)

I think for PI, this is usually the case bah. I owned PI cars in the past too. The 1st 1000km is also to check and see if everything is well. Usually PI will at least give the first servicing free. Win-win for both sides. Any issues, you can highlight it to the workshop early too - touch wood.

Mobil 1 oil vs Mobil Golden oil what the difference and price difference?

It refers to Mobil 1 0W50 and Mobil 5W40 if I am not wrong, its the silver and gold bottle respectively... the gold bottle is for newer engines... the silver for older engines...

For me I am the kiasu type!

My avg mileage is about 1k km/mth and I changed my engine oil & filter every 6 mths.

Engine oil is like the blood in your veins!

IMHO - Our kind of hot and harsh weathers unlike temperate countries - even synthetic oil can breakdown faster.

All mercedes whether PI or from C&C are of the same quality and build, only different options. If the authorised distributor says it's 15k for each servicing, then that should be the manufacturer's advice.

There is no harm if one choses to change engine oil even before reaching the 15k mileage, and obviously, shouldn't prolong the change after it pass the 15k mileage.

Different strokes for different folks. It all up to your individual preference lor :becky:

IMHO, whatever car and engine oil used, 10km is the limit to change oil in SG. I have tried long-life oil for up to nearly 20,000-25,000 km. At 10km oil change, they are all blackish. Our weather, plus start-stop traffic, really make the oil dirty. Stretching to 20-25,000 km last time for Bxx brand resulted in class action suit in some countries due to engine sludge formation (that ruins the engine). Now in SG all adheres to 15km. Why not 10k km one may ask? I believe their workshop simply cannot cope with the volume if the time frame is 10k km. More-ever it "might" result in "slow" engine wear and tear > 3 yrs aka out of warranty period that requires more servicing = income. The engine performance will drop over the time frame also with delayed servicing (sludge, engine/seal minor damages), resulting in owner wanting to upgrade to the next model (FL or new). Overall it is a win-win situation. :D

Please note some self-proclaimed oil experts have warned against too frequent oil changes, since engine oil's protective elements take time to bond with the engine surface. Too frequent a change increases wear and tear and do not allow bonding time of protective agents. Please google merc forums for this info.

OT: When one see a bling-bling crystal clad SL with the old C-class (203) look headlight on news, we have to wonder, are we always chasing the latest look but low capacity engines (always upgrading), whereby Merc owners around the world are owning their/our preferred high capacity/high power engines and dolling them up? Just a thought. :)

Is your MB under warranty with MBM (I assume urs a PI unit)? If yes, may need to follow their suggestion for warranty.
