Hi guys

yers of lacquer

I have decided to use my current Clk 240 cab which I bought in 2004 till the COE expires. I feel current COE prices are too high to change a car at this moment. So now I have justified with the wife to change a set of new rims and paint. Paint we have decided on a mirror finish black with at least five layers of lacquer.

What rims would your recommend? I am thinking 19s or 18s. In a slight dilemma. And what springs to change to? Your responses will be greatly apprciated.

Welcome!! Rims u are looking for original or replica? 18" or 19" not much a diffs in my opinion. If you looking for original rims do look for our site sponsor Benzline or MBM. Replica there are many in the market, do shop around I m sure you will be spoil for choice. As for lowered spring the usual recommendation will be Eibach, brabus or H&R again the mentioned site sponsor do carry these brands.

Thanks for the quick reply.

If 18s and 19s not much difference, then 19s would look nicer.

Do replicas work as well? (meaning do they stay true and balanced) I have seen bad replicas years ago when I was in uni, thus I tend to stay away from them. But if they are better in their reproductions and they make loads of cost savings, then I would not mind replicas. I saw the Breytons on sale in the private ads section but too bad their offsets don't fit mine. Thats the kind of looks I am after. Besides the sponsors, where can I shop? Really a noob at this. Plus I am worried some would sell me replicas at real prices!

Your recommendations and advice again would be very much well appreciated. Thanks!

Yap 19" would look nicer & better road holding too. If you have bad experience with replica then is better to stick with original. Replicas cost abt $250 per pce & original $1000 without tyres. If you hv concern being short change, post the pictures of the rim here.

Replicas are cheaper 4 times!! not very mind boggling to make a decision. Where can I see a good range of replicas? I actually do not mind paying for the Breytons which I was told cost $550 a piece w/o tires. I know they are meant for bimmers. Will they have offsets matching for my car? Thanks for the quick replies!

Look for Poh Heng our site sponsor. As for Breytons rims do a search in the forum or google.

Btw I read LTA's guideline, are 19's legal? Or perhaps I should rephrase the question.

LTA says it must be within the manufacturer's recommendation. What is the biggest allowed within the manufacturer's recommendation? My friend google did not produce an answer.

Hmm no idea whether 19" will against LTA regulation. If u hv concern then stick to yr manufacturer recommendation. Do join us our monthly gtg, details will be posted in the event thread.

Just worried about the yearly inspections. I don't want to have to change rims before inspection or fail inspection because of rims.

Yes sure. I am looking forward to meet you guys. Have a great day at work.

i've never heard about LTA disallowing rims of 19" or even 20. i have driven in with 19" on my previous ride with no issues.

For most of our rides, MB has recommendations up to 18" rims only except for AMG models.

Bro Chershen is right that LTA dun failed inspections becos of 19" rims or bigger.

For my ride, I stay with MB max 18" and my old meatless bum cannot take a harsher ride on 19"

Hi bro topless_slut,

I'd my ride fr my 1st inspection in feb w LS replica 19" AMG rims. No pb. Their concerns were mainly on these: emission level, unauthorized mods, headlights n windows film tinted level etc.

Proven thru my past few decent rides except fr my beloved Lancer GLX n STI.

rest assured, bro.:becky:
