For those that travel frequently to Malaysia in your precious ride, do u install any aftermarket security device?

I am in midst of getting a quote for Cobra Connex from a Msian friend working in there and if there is enough interest, i can try to negotiate group buy.

They have a specific items for Mercedes as well.

Details and rough pricing asf;

2 cents worth when in situation you kana target in Malaysia with your precious car:

1. If you cannot live with the fact that your car has been a target, better not drive in

2. If you are asked to handover the key, it means they want your car, give them the key+security codes+etc etc. Else you will loose your car plus plus plus +++++.

3. Irritating them may cause them to turn aggressive. Worst if you trigger Panic in them. Panic leads them to action without brains.

A humour that is real: My other head of department (female boss) loses her 523i of 8 months. She is a Malaysian but driving a Singapore registered bimmer. She was slight brushed aside when she approach her car. The stranger simply walk past her, slightly burshed her aside while taking the keys from her hand. Sat in, closes the door, engage the gear, release the handbrakes and drive off. All in a very smooth action. Must be a pro with Bimmer 5 series. Knows all the buttons and levers.

She was so shock in the next 2-3 mins that she just stood there.

All she complain was her Pot of Curry cook in Singapore that was meant for her mum in JB. Lost to the stanger. Thereafter, passport and all the inconvinience resulted in this episode.

Morale of Story: She is wealthy enough to worry about her Pot of Curry and travel docs comes second. She didnt even say a thing about her bimmer 5 series that was taken away.....lifes is just unpredictable. The END.

for some, its neccesary to drive into msia...or when some organises fun drive to melaka etc etc...its not a matter of preventing theft(if they want ur car, they WILL take it), its the matter of tracking car down after u hand over key safely etc.

When the car enters into a cargo container - bye bye!

A few years back - Local Btm Police caught containers containing 57 stolen cars from MY.

The local Police communicated with their MY counterparts and from the vehicle chassis numbers they confirmed all the 57 vehicles were stolen from MY.

The seized 57 stolen cars were not returned to MY but sent for auctions in Jkt.

The vehicles were considered as smuggled goods and are confiscated.

Say your tracking company is in Singapore.

They informed U that your car has been "stolen" while U are in MY

U all alone in MY - how are U going to react even they tell U your car is

in certain location?

Furthermore once the car enters into a godown or container - all gps signals are lost!

Herer is one idea that can use.

http://www.diylife.com/2007/09/13/ma...llance-system/

I am thinking, if you can recycle your old iPhone3G, just put in a multi-sim card ($5 monthly), you should be able to know your iPhone whereabout with the "find my iPhone" app. Know your phone means know your car.

phone network is practically everywhere, so it is better than GPS.

they have a 24 hour security company which will go and track down and try to recoved your car. A friend in KL had his car stolen from his apartment at around 3-4 am. He recvd a call from security company to ask if he was inded driving his car around his apartment compound.Once my friend confirmed tat he was not, security company asked him not to do anything, patrol cars were deployed to track the car, police were called as backup and they waited till car reached their warehouse and were ambushed.

Anyway, will update once i recv an email from them.

recvd the flwg fm them,

We have two popular models currently,TQi at RM3380 and T5 at RM3980.

Both model does the same thing as a stolen vehicle recovery system, meaning if the vehicle is stolen and informed our control centre, our recovery team will be dispatched and recover the vehicle for the customer .

The main selling point for our products is the Compensation Guarantee ( CG )

For TQi ,if vehicle is stolen and recovered within 72hrs ,we pay RM3000 and if its not recovered after 72hrs,we pay another RM8000.Total will be RM11,000.

For T5, we pay RM5000 if vehicle is stolen and recovered within 72hrs,and if its not recovered after 72hrs,we pay another RM10,000.Total will be RM15,000.

This CG is for the inconvenience caused and financial losses when car is stolen and customer will lose his NCB when he makes his insurance claim, long insurance claim process, monthly loan payment if car is still under finance, etc.

Note: Recovery is within Penisular M’sia only and there’s a yearly subscription fee of RM360 payable from 2nd year onwards.
