Dear All

Have been thinking of getting myself an E200 (W211 05 model). can only afford this model due to budget constrain.

However, as a newbie to merc cars, am not sure if the 05 model is a good buy. There's one in sgcarmart going for 79K sept/05.

Would really appreciate if anyone can give me some pro and cons of this car before i commit.

thanks and have a nice day.

eric

Try to work out the depreciation for the rest of the years.

I got my 04 W211 E240 few months ago. The condition was good, and depreciation is $9500 per year before it is due for scrap. It is about S$180 per month more than the Mark X I was driving.

I changed.

Hi TKL

Thanks for your feedback, based on the dealer's calculation, depreciation is 10.6k per annum. Could be due to current market condition. What is your FC ? I hope to achieve 11km/L is this possible for a E200 ?

hi Mod

yes, i have been to your link and it conclude that the F C is only so so.:-(...my current ride is around 7.8km/L, turbo charged. Thanks for your invite, hope toget myself a merc soon. Anyway the unit whihc I am eyeing is priced too high based on a 2005 model. The export price is around $36K. Guess dealer needs to earn a living too.....will keep a look out, maybe change to a C class. :-)

cheers

hi all

finally got my '05 E200 last week. so far so good except that there's this sound coming from the engine bay (like a baby dino calling) whenever the brakes is applied (sometimes no braking also have this sound).

off to MBM, and they say its normal because of the SBC, true enough, they demo to me the source of the noise.

is this a normal for E200 to have this noise ?

Thanks

Congrats! welcome to E class and the famous SBC brake pump.

Its present in all pre FL models. Its an electronically control pump to moderate the brake pressure, keeping it high enough for good braking.

be sure read many parts of the forum with information about it.

or come to the meet and ask fellow owners!

so did you get a good price for one in the end?

Hi Roland

Thanks for your reply. Well, it depends on how you look at it since I had to trade-in my old ride for the E200, if comparing to sbu1199u price, then mine is not considered a good buy, nevertheless, its already bought so let's enjoy the ride :-)).

So far its been quite ok, except that while coming back from KL (vis - vis) there's wind noise coming from the left wind screen area. may need to send to C&C for checking to see if the previous owner had any windscreen replacement (just a suspicion) or some other faults.

Hope to catch up with you at the next meet-out.

cheers
