Hi folks,

Just put pen to paper on an E-Cab last week. Expected delivery to be May. Hope to get the ride soon to join you guys at the gtgs. :becky::becky::becky:

Anyway need the gurus to show me the light on a button below the gear stick with the letters S-M-C that I saw while I was drooling over the showroom unit. Is this the button that is the button that perform the selective damping of the suspensions? Thanks in advance!!

Cheers!!

Congratulations on your new ride! The E cabriolet is a dream to have! Wished I had one. :)

Anyway, the S-M-C button you're referring to lets you toggle between Sport, Manual or Comfort. Depending on the mode you're in, it alters the response of the throttle and engine for a different kind of ride experience on each setting.

Sport mode upshifts higher up the power band and downshifts quicker. If you have the Agility Control package, the suspension and steering firms up as well.

Comfort mode shifts upwards very quickly with the purpose of fuel economy in mind. It starts you off in 2nd gear so don't expect quick launches off the line. Suspension and steering is tuned to allow a comfortable journey for all occupants while cruising.

Manual mode basically puts the driver in total control of gear shifts and has the handling aspects of the car at its most raw (ie. maximum feedback from the tarmac to the car to the driver). You feel everything that the road throws at you.

Gurus, correct me if I'm wrong, please! :)

Again, damn nice car!!! :)

The selective damp is not available for E Cabro, only S class etc. The one I had on my previous ride from C&C is called Dynamic Handling. If you see the S-M-C most likely the car does not comes with Dynamic Handling package. Do a search in the forum, There is a thread on explanation types of suspension from Mercedes.

Btw congras on yr new E cabrio, do us for la kopi & gtg. Look for Desmondtoo he is the cabrio guru :).

Hi Bros!

Wow thats alot of replies. Kudos to you guys... Thanks for all the information! Its especially useful to me since this is my first tristar....

Anyway to fill you guys in on the details of my ride to be, I ordered an E250 sports package from a PI with their rides sourced from UK. Ride comes with all the specs that are on a standard-speced E250 sports cabrio as per the Mercedes UK website which includes things like the AMG bodykit, steering wheel, rims and etc. Ride also comes with dynamic handling with selective damping which honestly until this moment in time I have no idea WTH it does and I reckon I wont be using it much. I did however ensured that my ride came with all the goodies with the resale value in mind.

Anyway reason why I went the PI route is of course the price, and the sports package is too good to decline considering that you've gotta pay almost 20k more just for the AMG aesthetic stuff from C&C not including the already vast price diff between the basic car. With regard to aftersales I'll be having MBM as my servicing and warranty coverage so I guess that sets my mind at ease...

Cheers

Wow thanks for the indepth explanation bro! For a moment I though S will launch some wings and C will activate the massage chair.. Haha.. Anyway I have this strong hunch that it will remain in the default mode most of the time considering that I am not exactly that much of a techie with cars...:becky:

PI spec now comes with Dynamic Handling package too? This one i got to see it myself, do take note that once yr ride comes with this package. You wont see S mode at the gear shift only M-C. Also, there will be an additional button with the wording "Sport" on the center panel.

Yes, this one is a must see...I've looked at all the Ex-stocks at all showrooms during my purchase, but none was brought in with Dynamic Handling package. Special indent...Cool!!!:thumb:

Anyway Merc20, you might wanna generate your ride's DataCard, to confirm the options listed are all there...Cheers!
