Keyless entry: Door handle giving problems

Dear all,

been experiencing some cranky moments with w211 keyless entry mode. for some reason ... i cant lock nor unlock the car via driver side handle. i have to resort to using the right rear handle to unlock and lock the car. However, a couple of times it works perfectly fine. i begin to suspect it might be due to wet weather element.

thereafter for no reason the right rear starts to give problems and the driver side handle sort of worked normally. although im able lock/unlock the car via remote, but its kind of a habit to use keyless mode.

any body is fazed with similar problem ?? any 'economical way' to rectify it =) ??

appreciate any fellow members comment cheers.

p/s, the w211 is 4yr old ...

hi, i am having the same problem, rear right door handle. some time can unlock, sometime cant. but it certainly cannot lock for now.

from my research, the cheapest way is to clear the error code in the car. seems to work well in most cases. otherwise, replace handle, painted of course.

happens to my '06 W211 also. driver side door handle cant seem to sense the key fob sometimes. either use the remote button or use the rear door to unlock.

some people from other country also having this problem. like the one here: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w211-e-class/1568453-keyless-go-intermittent-door-sensor.html

seems like the sensor on the handle up lorry alr. might have to replace the whole handle.

clear error code ?? can elaborate ?? im suspecting some sort of on board computer error too.

im praying the left dun give problems for now ...

if not, open passenger door for ladies... then tio pwned by the handle ... =S

mine too seem like on the verge of dieing. the handle problem first struck when the car was still under warranty (reckon the final 3 mth of 3 yrs warranty). i did went to C&C to have it rectify and they replace the handle, lucky me. i tot it would roughly last another 3 odd years. =(

yeah it would be my last resort to change the handle, till then ... the remote works fine ...

yea another problem is, if i leave my car unlocked for maybe 5 mins. the moment i try to open the door, it locks up. cause it didnt detect my key fob.. lol

all those faulty safety systems screwing me up make me feel like a fail thief.

"oh look! that dumba$$ left his merc unlocked"

*walks over*

*opens the driver door*

*DOOR LOCKS UP*

well, guess im gonna replace the handle soon. ^^

Maybe better to buy without keyless?

pray duper hard it doesnt ... but with the weather elements here in SGP ... hard to say =S.

beside i also suspect interference from mobile phone

Go try a few times - using your transponder key aka remote to unlock, start engine, switch off engine & locked.

Try a few cycles & see whether your keyless problem goes away or not!

hi there. you can try to go to any workshop with a mercedes diagnostic system and they will can clear the error code in the car computer. really shouldn't cost more than 100 dollars. free even.
