Hi all,

Just made an appointment with C&C for 30K servicing on my W211. Was told that they need 2 days for the servicing! I didn't know u need 2 days to service a car.

Now I got to arrange transport for the carless 2 days.

Happy CNY to all members!

sent mine W212 for 30k servicing was told the same thing over the phone (2 days) they need to test this n that

finally sent in one fine morning but collected in the same afternoon 3pm

paid close to $900.00 (under warranty)

most of the $900 goes to the testing

should not be going to CnC servicing anymore.

C&C didnt do any oil change etc only for testing and charges for $900? Please Tell me this is not happening.

It's always 15000km service for one day and the next 30000km service for two days and the cycle repeats. Ask for the checklist and you will realise the two days service is mostly visual inspection (such as look for leaks, pinch points etc) other than the usual 15000km service.

This was what I found out during my A-class days and I always ask to do the 15000km service when the 30000km service comes along. It's no point leaving the car for two days just for visual inspection. Just have to note which is the major service interval to change fluids such as transmission and brakes and do those. I would say it's important to do visual inspection if your car flies, if not, just listen to your car sound whenever you drive and be observant in the car behaviour and any leakage.

I did the same to my W203 and it has clocked 190000km today without problem.

A380, what's your experience? And is it >$1000?

My W211 is also due for 30k servicing. Any other reliable workshops anyone could recommend? The need to take 2 days leave is a put-off.

Just want to make a comment on the W211 servicing.

I went outside (C&C) to do my 80K servicing and was told to changed my tranny fluids and filter. I was skeptical of the boss advice and thought he was just trying to earn some quick bucks.

I then told him I will check the car's service history and Merc's (not C&C) recommended servicing instructions. To my surprise, despite Merc's recommendation to change it at least once at 60K mark, C&C did not recommend me to do so then.

I wonder if it is in anyway connected to Merc tranny failures in Singapore. The boss argued (not me) that such maintenence is conveniently left out so they may capitalised on tranny failure repairs.

What do you all think?

Hi there.

The 722.6 & 722.9 transmission had when introduced a "lifetime" filling but due to the lifetime became pretty short:shocked: MB changed the policy and nowadays its supposed to be changed again.:fish:

Cheers, Frank

Opt for normal servicing for my W211 during the recent 30K. Done the same on my previous W203. FYI- Cost quoted by agent for brake disc (sport version) and pad is 1200++ (1 day job) vs 700 (2-3 hrs job - use merc original part). Wheel aligment quoted by agent is $245 vs $85 by stamford.

So we can actually opt for the normal servicing saving the money for unnecessary tests or checks? Does it affect the warranty?

I have done it with my W168 and W203, warranty still stays. Btw, warranty issue is a sticky stuff and it all depends on what are you claiming.

Actually... for the W211, you can look in the maintenace instructions in the arm-rest. It clearly states to at least change it once at 60,000KM. Hmm...

Hi BBwannabe,

I recommend to change the ATF. For our driving conditions (ie start/stop & hot), the ATF for our euro cars do not last as long as they would in cold countries. I replace the ATF when my 211 reached 70+ K.

When replacing the ATF, the ATF filter plus a few other stuff are replace as well to ensure problematic free trans. (There is addtional wear&tear due to our conditions and filter gets choked up more easily.)

Please insist you use the ORIG MERC ATF. do not accept any subsitute. they are not expensive as what the mechanics would claim. Overall, the entire job comes in a package around 400 at outside mechs. at C&C, it will cost you 1200.

cheers

Oh Ok...btw, where did you get it done for 340?

Any other stuff you recommend changing?
