Removing Front Grill

Long story short, my neighbour hit my front and the Mercs Star logo dropped off. Neighbour got me new 'star' but the grooves are different so it doesn't fit. So I've been using double-sided tape to stick my original one until I decided to buy a entire new front grill since I wanted to replace it anyway.

I managed to download a pdf instruction manual from another mercs forum (non-Singapore) and followed all instructions until the final part. Removing the actual front grill. But I simply couldn't take it out!

The instructions said to "hold the bottom of the grill and push inwards towards the radiator" and it says doing so the bottom half will come off "easily". But I used an insane amount of strength for almost half an hour and it just won't come out. I had a friend come and help. Two grown men pushing it and it just won't come out.

I looked and obviously there's around five parts where the front grill is 'clipped' (?) onto the front bumper. I can't seem to take it out.

Can anyone please help?

Alternatively, is there any workshop that can do this for me on the cheap? Really don't want to spend money on this.

Thanks in advance everyone!!

Removing the grill is kindof tricky. See if the following threads will be of help to you:

If still cannot, come over to Bt Batok (office hours only) and buy me 1 kopi-o, and I'll try to take out for you. Did it before, don't know if I can still pull it off this time... hehe...

Otherwise, go to the site sponsors workshops, and I think you'll have to pay a couple of tens for it.

Thanks bro.

Yup, have seen the mbworld thread previously. Can't believe they made it sound so easy. At least now I know it wasn't just me. haha. I was so frustrated I wanted to kick the grille :censored:

I just saw your thread on your grille too. Would love to get your help but Bukit Batok during office hours seems pretty impossible for me.

If my memory didn't fail me, the grille is secured by a few tabs at the bottom of the grille, and hook onto 2 round 'holders' on the left and right. First you have to loosen the T-bar at the top of the grille so that the grille is moveable. Next, push the lower portion of the grille forward (towards the radiator), and lifting it upwards at the same time. Do it gently so that you won't break the tabs. Try a couple of times and it should come out eventually.

Good luck trying!
