Couple of things u can do, search the forum & read up as this topic is not new. The finding is that missing filter, full blasts yr air con before turn off yr engine & complains to yr SE if still under warranty demand for a thoroughly clean up yr air con system from head to toe.

Humm, interesting but mine blows garbang smell when one starts car when parked at a hot/exposed place (not all the times it'll blow smelly garbage). Apart from start ups, it ok.

yeah happens to me sometimes as well ..

read it could be some dampness inside the air con that may be causing smell ..

i tried to set the air con to blow warm/hot air once a while ( turn AC mode off and max the temp ) seems to resolve issue.

Do you all use air fresheners?

I used to own a Mitsubishi last time, had the sour smell that come from the aircon before. That time, I went to C & C and they told me NOT to use air-fresheners.

Reason being these air fresheners contain Alcohol inside. The alcohol gets into the aircon and will produce the "sour" smell. ( I think when it ferments)

I removed my air-freshener... Remember that time was using ambipur, later, after few days, the sour smell disappeared totally and never came back.

I had the foul smell whenever I start up the car after parking.

I went to C&C and told them the problem..

I don't know what they did.. but the foul smell have gone and it's been 3 plus months..

I went to C&C to complain. They clean up the Air-con. Was advice not to place the 3M floor mat. The rubber cause the smell. Followed instructions was fine but problem came back again after 3 mths. Smell like moldy towel.

Feel like using mold remover.

I have exactly the same problem. The moldy towel smell can be quite strong I even need to wind down my windows. It's been like this for a while, and I still haven't figured out what is wrong yet :(

Help pleasee

I now throw in a small bag of charcoal under my seat and kept a hippo at the passenger sit. no more smell so far.

I think almost every W204 has this problem. The foul smell is more pronounced especially if you park your car under the hot sun all the time. It seems like C&C can't solve this problem as well. They asked me to pay for the $388 air con cleaning service which I refused, as we had this problem since we first collected the car. Anyway, too tired to quarrel with them over this, and also the smell will go away after a couple of minutes so just live with it.

Charcoal and hippo is good, should help to remove/reduce the smell. Removing 3M floormats is plain BS IMHO.

There are 2 smells being discussed here;

1)Ammonia smell after engine rev are 3 - 5k rpm

2) Mouldy smell

For the Ammonia smell, from my personal experience with B Class (W245). Charcoal / Hippo will not help, it was due to a spare part called "Enhance Flap" (not sure what is it for). After the part changed, still ave the ammonia smell after engine rev, but it was significantly reduced, say 80%
