First an introduction,

I am Lawrence Chia.

I have been driving a few Japanese cars for quite a while, while my Mazda MX-5 served me and my wife fine, I had a need for another sedan due to my expanding family. So i bought an E200, but i was quite unfamiliar with conti cars and bought a unit which looked good but engine and gear box problems were hidden by the dealer.

After i bought the car, i found engine tuning was too high and change from gear 3 to 4 has a jerk. (Didn't experience this when test drive as didn't go to highway.)

After looking for help from local forum's recommendations, i went to 2 different workshops, both are mercedes specialist.

Workshop 1 (Bukit timah): gear box need to overhaul, change of 4 shock absorbers, redo vacuum hoses, etc... estimated cost $3000++

Workshop 2 (AMK Autopoint): gear box need to overhaul, steering overhaul, replace all steering hoses, oil pressure sender, replace 4 rear suspension mounts, redo vacuum hoses, etc... estimated cost $3300++

After doing my homework, i decided to look across the border.

I went to see Dr Gan for my merc's gearbox problem.

After a test drive, i told him i was told i needed to overhaul the gearbox.

He smiled and told me maybe not.

After returning to his workshop, he hoisted up the car and checked the gearbox, found that the gearbox oil pressure is double the factory original pressure. Making some adjustments, we went for another drive...

Viola!!! The jerky gear change problems were no more!!!!

All done for a labour cost of RM60 only....

Subsequently i went back for him to replace all wear and tear items at one shot... Took him a week and my car drove like a breeze after that.

One fine day, while i was driving, suddenly my meters all died (except speedo), when i drove in and told him the problem.

He simply told me... Fuse number 5 has blown....

He went to my car, opened up the fuse box and replaced all my oxidised fuses...

Dr Gan is really amazes me with the in-dept knowledge of our Mercedes Benz. His happy attitude, Sincere service and reasonable charges makes me only trust my Merc with him now... :bounce::bounce:

I got Dr Gan to join our forums and to give us more advise about our

Mercs.

Kudos to you Dr Gan. :becky::becky::becky:
