E200 ngt

Hello all. i am seeking for advice.

The COE of my beloved W124 is going to expire next year march. And most likely i will not renew it. So have to forgo it after that.

Recently i have came across some 2006 E200 NGT which make me interested. However, the reason why i kept my W124 is due to the reported unreliability of Merz after W124.

I know that Merz did go through a major "upgrade" in 2006 to improve the reliability of E class. I just do not know if E200 NGT is under this or not.

I also cant find much information about the reliability of NGT model especially 2006 batch so see any bro/sis got any information to share.

Thanks in advance.

I have been driving the 05/2006 model for the last 20000km and do not have any major issues except 2 repairs,The car milieage is now 100k. Replacement of valve of CNG nozzle pump valve ($700 at C&C) and the engine starter (my regular workshop). I think it is due to wear and tear. I am quite satisfied with the car performance till now.

thanks for your info. may i ask for the replacement of valve, did it fail on you? like cant start the car, encountered problem during journey, etc?

cause i drive to malaysia very often, up till penang. and my W124 never fail me once for all these years.

The valve leaks and cause CNG to escape from the opening. I just it used up and travel on petrol until I send it to C&C for repair as my regular workshop does not have the knowledge to repair the CNG system. No breakdown or whatsoever.

The 2nd problem on 'starter' did cause me problem. At first, I thouight the battery was weak, but the AA recovery technician confirms that my batteries are fine and the main cause is the 'starter'. I got it towed to my workshop and replaced it. Due the the 'automatic' starting system, my mechanic says that it is due to war and tear.
