Big problem ! advice needed

Hi all,

I m new here. Just collected my Ecoupe last week.

Good drive till today. Encountered Something strange.

While reversing, out of the sudden. The engine went off.

Need to restart the engine.

Understand that autocar should not have such problem.

Advice needed:Cry:

Congras!! Nope is not norm!! U got it from PI or C&C? Get it check ASAP!!

I got it from PI, but don know why today while doing 3 point turn, the engine suddenly auto shut down, but there was no engine warning light or any other indication. Serious problem now. But was told by my PI to monitor, if happen again faster go back to their workshop.:Cry:

Yap, if happens again send it for thorough check. Can't imagine if stall suddenly while driving!!

Depends!! Going down or up on a slope, on the highway etc. I won't know what will happens if u r in these situation. Anyway, just send for inspection!!

Thanks, after hearing the story that my gear box may damage, will go tomorrow for a check up.

Just a quick check, i find that my ride at low speed not that good to drive (seem like not enough gas and sticky), but on the other-hand at over the speed >90 very smooth....easily fly

Hi RCE,

is it only happen when reverse gear is engaged??? like doing a 3 point turn...i am sure you have to dance cha cha before actual turn is done ya...

From your description, it seems to happen during low gear and low speed. My guess is an engine management issue, probably software? It's best to send the car in for a diagnostic check.

Happened to me before as well lucky only once then never occured thereafter. If it happens again send it in immed for a check.

Low speed not good to drive because in comfort mode you move off in 2nd gear plus the E class has a heavy body.

What you can do about it ?

Well you can either buy a throttle controller i.e sprint booster or so on, or switch to S mode when you first start the car and before moving off or simply be a bit more heavy footed when moving off. Either way its a lux car not a pocket rocket you should have known that. Enjoy the ride bro cheers !

Sorry, but how's yr driving style...??

Itz a turbo charged engine, jerky is part of it unless u have someone to help twitch with the ignition... Play around with the parameter...

ECU learns the wat u drive and handle it, I normally redline the car once in a while even when new... It sits motionless for a good 3weeks inboard before someone starts it again... To me, itz a 'lazy' sign from the car...

Not recommending but I redline the car thru the first 3 gears after the 100km mark...

Juz change the oil to torco SR5 after 1000km and the car seems smoother and the rpm is lower while cruising... Itz juz me, if itz built to last it will last....

Hi all, had brought my baby to the workshop yesterday, the tech there run a test on my baby and everything is ok from their checks. They said that the reason is the ride is new, and the piston have tight tolerance, still in running in stage and is normal.

Please advice is it true of such thing, cause i believe that the factory should run in the engine prior installing to the car.

Hi all.

Im new to this forums. Please forgive me if i say something wrong.

I had encountered this problem before when driving a '93 200E.

Once, i was doing a U turn. Just when i hit the full lock the engine stalled.

Second time, when i was doing a 3 point turn. the engine stalled when i hit the full lock. Happens when reversing too.

Sometimes the engine will vibrate (like chua sai) when i hit the full lock, but did not stall cos it auto inject fuel to keep the engine alive.

We had to bring it to the garage. The mechanic cleared up the clogging in the intake manifold and valve and changed the air filter. Problem solved.

So, maybe the engine is not sucking enough air? Im not sure why, but just to share.

Hi, my 4yrs old W211 started to get this intermittent engine diagnostic light problem. Sometimes the light came on during engine start and sometimes it cam on after 5 mins of driving. It certainly is a pia.

How did you guys resolve it?

The W211 M271 engine has a known problem of manifold leak after many years of running and this will cause an intermittent check engine error light, same goes to the W203.

Send it to the workshop for checks.
