I suggest you go to malaysia, particularly Johar bahru, near pelangi shopping centre, many tyre shops that offer excellent value for money on tyres, from continental to pirelli's.. there are many more areas near taman univerity ( UTM) in skudai, johor but pelangi area nearest from woodlands..

If U want quiet & comfort tyres - go for Bridgestone Touranza GR 90.

Hi thanks so the GR90 still good for some spirited driving round corners and in the rain?

IMHO,

If U are not goin to chiong B Roads or go tracking, these are the best quietest low profile tyres.

They are quiet and a fair balance for performance.

If U are looking for "performance tyres", then the usual Michelin PS3,

Conti CSC 5, Pirelli P Zero, Bridgestone S001, Goodyear Eagle F1, etc.

This is how Bridgestone grade their range of tyres.

BTW The GR90 are not "cheap tyres"

I had them on my Audi A4 B8 2.0 TQ 245/40/18

I had them on my E250 stock 17" 245/45/17

Now I have them staggered on my E250

Front 245/40/18 Rear 265/35/18

Quiet tyres like Michelin Premacy HC dun have low profile tyres.

Hi thanks bro much appreciated for your feedback......i am now on eagle f1 but seems to spot some cracks on the wall of my front tires and I had curbed the rear quite bad like a big chunk of it been cut off. Me using it as a family ride bringing kids around thus worried it will go burst on me and lose control on the rd. Need to spent money to have a piece of mind.

Hi kinky74,

can try Bridgestone RE001 or Yokohama S Drive or Advan Sports (value for $)

if no budget constraint: Michellin PS or Bridgestone RE11 or Pirelli PZero

* worried the Eagle F1 ( side wall might cracked again!!! )

cheesr

Some experiences to share. Tyres for me are more about outright grip, esp. in the wet, and handling, much more so than comfort or noise (which you kinda get used to eventually). It's about having that extra headroom or bigger margin for error just in case your foot makes a commitment your car cannot keep.

Of those I've tried, best outright grip goes to the PS2. Super sticky but it lasts about as long as ice cream. And they're hellishly expensive compared to the rest. But when the skies pisses over you, they'll grip like clamps. Another good gripper is the German GSD3s. Excellent in the wet, too. But also one of the more noisier ones. Dunlop Sportmaxx, RE050s, SO3s and Adrenaline RE001s are pretty darn good, too. Also, they're cheaper and have very decent UTGQs. Currently, using F1 Asymmetric. They feel about as good as the GSD3s but have a crisper steering response. Also, not too harsh. And no side wall cracks after 7Ks.

The most rubbish ones from experience are Thai made GSD3s. About as grippy as skates on ice. Apparently, Yoko Aspect DBs also share that dubious honour. YMMV. IMHO etc.

Take a look at Hankook Evo S1, very under-rated in Singapore. Thread pattern very similar to csc 3 with same or better performance @ fraction of price, slight stiffer sidewall which i like. Was on it for 50k in my last car. Wanted to go back to Hankook Evo S1 this time but no choice cos my rim shop dun carry Hankook.

Now on Goodyear Asymmetrical German, so far so good, but it's only been 4k... Soft sidewall, need almost 250kpa to keep the tyres up!

I usually gauge the correct pressure for the tyres by the pattern of dirt/debris stuck on the thread portion of the tyres. eg, if the dirt is only on the central portion of the thread, the pressure is too high

Agree with Unker here. Have them on a W211 E200 now 245/45/17, 30k already still looking good..very comfortable and quiet. Really hard to find low profile-quiet-comfort tyres. Was on PZero Rosso before and the switch was like god-sent.

My 2cents worth, If you're mainly bringing the kids around, I think everyone will appreciate the comfort and noise reduction. Good enough grip for me on the occasional spirited drive around the corner. I feel it offers better grip in rain, well at least in my attempts at forcing wheelspin with a right/left turn from stop line.

IMHO, the price speaks for itself in terms of noise & comfort, but with some sacrifice in performance as compared to performance orientated tires.

Personally, I'll never sacrifice safety for comfort and noise reduction...especially with my love ones on board...

noise and discomfort will not kill

These "comfort tyres" are as good as the "performance tyres" & IMHO as safe as any tyres.

They maybe even good enough for B roads & maybe not good enough for the tracks.

Dun think it's a good idea to put your family in your ride if U Cheong B roads or go tracking.

Guess end of the day, it's what rocks your boat.

My both stock cars came with Pirelli P7.

They sure grip like hell both wet & dry but I couldn't stand the noise in the cabin.

I came back to MB cos I wanna comfortable & quiet ride & I feel very safe for my family with the GR90 tyres

I m on my 3rd set.

The 1st set was used on my Audi 2.0 TFSI Quattro & the GR90 never disappoint me on spirited drives wet & dry.

On the 2nd set with the W212, I did >1500km on MY East coastal roads.

Never felt unsafe at bends & "higher speed".

The car felt planted to the roads at all time.

Please share how much did the 245/45/17 GR90 cost. Heard that tyres generally cost less in JB; does anyone have any reputable shops to recommend ?
