yesterday afternoon the yellow engine diagnostics warning lamp came on and refused to go off even after I stop/start 5hrs later...spoke to my SE and asked me to send in to C&C for checkup if the light still persist the next morning...

this morning the light is off...even after a few stop/start...??? she told me could be due to some sensors problem...anyone experienced the same?

the manual gave some possible causes but very vague leh??? :noidea::confused:

Could be due to O2 or MAP(Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor.

If it comes back again - go to C&C.

They can also run the Engine Diagnostic and the check, the error should show up.

Last week more "frightening" for me.

After car wash in Petrol Kiosk, went on to the main road and in less than

50m, no warning lamp, engine suddenly lost power, refuse to accelerate and car refuse to move. Switched off the engine and restart, everything back to normal again. Scary! Hope it doesn't cum back again! Closed eyes pretend not to be there.....hahahaha!

Suspect error in the TCU mechantronics aka Transmission Control Unit.

So far so good!

ya coffee break...haha...it is the Attention Assist feature and it came active from factory on all W212. ...if you start dozing after a long drive and start losing control..maybe when you drive at the Autobahn for a long period.. it beeps and the coffee cup becomes bigger and asks if you want a rest...

Hopefully the next version of the car will make coffee for you...LOL :becky:

Wow. E-Class. Fantastic. I guess I'll have a few more years before I progress to that stage. And yes, we may see coffee-makers in cars probably in this lifetime with all the fast and furious technological advancements these days.

Lightning, since me now eng, tell you a little story that happened 3 years ago.

I rented a Merc Vito/Viano MPV in Europe. 11 seater with lots of space for my family. Enjoyed driving the 'van' for 2 weeks. Then one day I was driving towards a ski resort, halfway through the same yellow engine diagnostics light came on. Car power dropped drastically, can't go faster than 50km/h. LL stop at the rest area and called Hertz for help. Hertz said recovery vehicle can only reach me in about 2 hours. Me then LL continue to drive to my destination at 50km/h!!! Finally the recovery vehicle came and met me at the ski resort, then 1 chicken and 1 duck cannot communicate. The technician plug in his diagnostic device, and keep telling me 2 words, "Problem" and "Factory". After some guessing, I think he is telling me that there is a serious "Problem", and the vehicle need to send back to the "Factory". Then I told him that I'm returning the vehicle the next day. On hearing that, he did some magic on this diagnostic device to clear off the error, and told me that the car should last me till the next day. Magically, the power of the car came back, and the yellow light is gone. I drove carefully till the next day when I returned the car.

I think what the tech did was to override the error, but that doesn't means the problem has been resolved. I think some parts/sensors must have up lorry. Better to send your car back to AD for a thorough check!

Good luck!

lol, sounds like the vito is in the limp-home mode. just curious, could you go past 2nd gear?

It was an auto, think it was moving between 3rd and 4th gears during that damn journey, about 30-40km! People on the highway must be thinking why am I driving so slow.

Go to either of our site sponsor Starblack or MBM.

They can do a engine diagnostic check to see what caused your CEL (Check Engine Light) to turn on.

Could be a faulty sensor!
