19" rims on the W212

Has anyone gone on to 19" rims for their ride?

2107-l.jpg

I'm really concerned about the ride comfort moving from 18" to 19". Will i be sacrificing substantial comfort? Or its not noticeable at all?

Also, i've seen a W212 with 19" rims with the tyres peeping out from the front side fenders by 1/3". Does that mean that 19" rims not suited for the w212?

Thanks!

Depends on the width & offset of the rims!

Most important is whether you get the right offset and width of the rims and tyres sizes you are getting...also if the rims are staggered or not...

I m on 18" and happy with the change from stock 17"... I m sure there are other bros out there using the 19" and hope they can share their experience with you.

sama sama with U Lightning Bro!

With the 18", my butt can feel it's a little harsher than the 17" but heppy with the 18" look - so no regrets.

If U check our car tyre pressure & also manual, there's no recommendation for 19" wheels for the "normal" E200/E250, except for those on AIRMATIC, DIRECT CONTROL suspension or Sports package

The recommended 19" sizes are

Front

245/35 R19 93 Y XL

8.5 J x 19 H2 ET 48

Rear

275/30 R19 96 Y XL

9.5 J x 19 H2 ET 48

IMHO, Looking at the offset and wheel sizes I believe the above sizes still can be fitted to the "normal" E200/E250

Hey pals,

Thanks for sharing good knowledge again. Didnt know a thing about offset till you guys mentioned it. To think i imagined what i saw to be a botched job...hurhur.

Unker,

I dont have the manual yet, so thanks for taking the effort to look it up! I will take some time to decipher those nos. you've given.

Think the 19" will give rise to even more cabin noise and harsher ride given yr experience frm 17" to 18". Maybe its a good idea to keep it at 18" considering the above and the price of the 19" amg rims. Not cheap at all:Cry:

Goin to 19" usually will go with wider tyres mean more rubber contacting the road. Noise will be a little higher.

IMHO, the noise difference is not much if comparing the same brand & model of tyre.

I've gone from 245/45/17 Front & Rear to

245/40/18 Front

265/35/18 Rear

The front width of tyres remain the same but the rear the width of tyres are 20mm wider than the stock.

I dun hear much increase in road noise except I feel the road bumps a little more....hahaha!

I've gone from 17" to 18" and looking at the tyre wall is already quick shallow.

Yours is the Sport Package that comes with AMG Monoblock IV?

If it's, this is what I have.

I already felt "some harshness" goin from 17" to 18". Any more I guess the ride will be "hard" for me. My kar chng no fat & flesh xcept kut nia! :becky:

IMHO, If want to look hiong, then go 19", lower suspension & forego some comfort. If not then keep it at 17" or 18".

Unker,

Car arriving comes with Sports Package indeed.

It comes with 18"rims below according to SE. Your sports package came with 17" rims? Pai sei also dunno what is AMG Monoblock IV. 2073-xl.jpg

Phew...18" can feel the bumps already! My lao bei surely wont want to have a "hard" time. Ironically, he is adamant that the car has a sporty look. Some things got to give here...the 18" seems to be a good middle ground.

In terms of tyre used, what were the stock tyres that you got?

Unker got no sport package lah!

C&C say buy what we have - that time cannot indent cos COE during May makes everybody nervous.

So lan lan buy avantgarde with 17" stock wheels nia.

Recently bought someone leftover AMG Sport Package rims .

Your rims that will cums with your AMG Sport Package is exactly the picture U posted. AMG Monoblock IV

Front 8.5" x 18" ET48 with 245/40/18 tyres

Rear 9.0" x 18" ET 54 with 265/35/18 tyres

IMHO - Keep the rims/tyres lah if U want some comfort but the tyres that cums with your rims may be noisy hor....probably Dunlop Sport Maxx or Bridgestone Potenza RE.

If U find your tyres too "noisy" for your liking, U might wanna consider trading them in to the tyre shop like SET or LS for my recommendation - Bridgestone Touranza GR90 tyres - not cheapo tyres hor. (I m on my 3rd set of GR 90s)

The car my family is getting also don't come with COE. I'm getting nervous now with Cat B COE creeping up slowly...i can't tell when is a good time to go for the bid.

Will stay put with 18" rims, its really quite wasteful getting the sports package and trading in the original rims.

The tyres that they provide is of concern too. Highlighted the need to get Michelin tyres, i doubt its gonna happen anyway. I can't expect any exceptional tyres that comes with the car really...

Unker you're giving me good recommendations again! :becky:

Will definitely consider yr choice if the tyres given is not up to the mark
