Detailing for New Car

Hi people,

Seeking your experience in car care here.

Everyone here who loves their car want to keep their ride in pristine showroom condition, if not better.

I will want to

1)seal my car in that "kilat" showroom shine

2)and also to protect the paintwork.

Sending in a new car for detailing, will it serve the above mentioned purpose at all?

Or is it a waste of money since there is nothing much to be done for a new car?

Brandnew, yes get it kilat!!! After that u got do yr own weekly wash & polish else the kilat end up bor lat!!

My impression was that after sending the car in for detailing, with the smooth protection, the maintenance work will be wiping and water spray at any petrol kiosk:shocked:

Seen many picts of cars achieving the deep wet lustre after treatment with Zaino. Many good reviews of the Zaino products too.

Does Zaino complement the nano paint on MB?

Or the nano sealant offered by C&C is a better option?

Till now I hv not come across a product that u can do it once & will last. Regular grooming or at least once a week washing is a MUST.

I did some research a whole back and now waiting to seal my car when it arrives.

I bought a protector called DiamondBrite from eBay, it costs around S$80 for the package. Read good reviews and you can search on this as well.

If you get it done by someone here it will cost around 800, its a 2 step application process and need to maintain using a special chemical every 3 or so months but easy to apply.

"Suppose" to last up to a year or more! We shall see!

It's the 1st time in dunno how many years that I am washing the car myself.

So almost every week, Unker will break his back to do some exercise washing the car thoroughly.

BTW poor unker stay in garmen hdb flat so no garden hose to wash car.

Bought myself this pressure washer to wash the car.

It runs on it's own battery (easily last more than 1 car wash) or run on car 12V with an adaptor that cums with it.

Water pressure adjustable but even at the max, it will not likely to hurt the

paintwork on your car.

I bought it at Down Town East MSCP Level 2 - Grooming shop.

Selling to public for $220

Sell to Volkswagen Audi Forum member at $199.

It's not on display and U have to ask them for it!

U may buy quite similar 1 at Autobacs but the capacity is not 17L and dun come with it's own battery i.e cannot run cordless and has to hook on to your car 12V socket.

i'm curious too.

dunno whether to go for C&C nano sealant or CS-II sealant (cheaper and got some good FR) or simply get some free exercise by hand polishing it myself every 3 mths.

I no money to use Swissvax Crystal Rock!

That IMHO, is best what money can buy.

Saw on Discovery Turbo, they tried several wax including Swissvax.

Measured the gloss with a "meter" at several place on the car.

Then they touch the car to simulate harsh sunlight.

Hantam sand, dust, high pressure water hose.

The only one that last was Swissvax Crystal Rock but $$$$.

I m supporting my old fren Chandra from CarzComp who used to be the original Zaino.

I am using his higher end product call "Glass".

It's a 1 time coating that will last more than a year.

So giving it a try! So far so good after 2 mths.

I've just send my car to First Auto and I'm pretty pleased with the final result. You can try it out but it's not cheap though.

Your intro to Swissvax Crystal Rock made me look into this product. Indeed, it is seemingly the be all end all premium wax as read from other reviews.

Hehe.... same here unker.... me never wash car for at least 18 years liao. After sending my W211 to First Auto 2 weeks ago... I "LL" now have to start washing own car. If not, leave to maid.... less than 1 month paint work will be gone case

Babul: I paid $720 for 4 sessions (within 1 year period) with First Auto... I believe they will allow the other 3 sessions to stretch more than 1 yr if your car is not black as that colour needs more maintenance than my silver coat. Their service is very good. No regrets... got waiting room with pool table and lots of magazines if u are gamed enough to wait for them to complete. Good luck!

Poor Unker stay in HDB - so pay Indian car washer $15/mth to wash my rims only.

20 rim washes a mth - not bad! My younger bro lagi hiong - he pays only $10/mth to wash

his W203 Brabus rims.....hehehe!

IMHO,

Zaino is more of layering - The best is quickly layer 4 to 5 coats with 1 coat every month.

My previous W211 also went to First Auto - IIRC Special Package - 1st time $400+ , every session after that $96 up to 14 mths - Mr. Tay allows me up to 17 mths. I think for the W211, I had 6 coats in 9 months.

Once I took my wife along with me and we took a bus to JE Bus Terminal.

From there we took another bus to Kota Raya - JB - go shopping and makan, then take bus back.....:becky:

It didn't cross my mind to just engage hdb car cleaners for rim washing only. A brilliant idea really! Don't have to keep squatting:becky:

I may just settle at First to watch them detail the car. It can't be too long if the car is new right. I imagine they won't have much to do with the seats and engine. On the contrary, i hope they devote more time to give the car a good shine!!

I'm sure with every additional coat, it "thickens" the protection but were you able to see improvement to the car outlook after every coat?

When I had Zaino (CarzComp) on my previous W124 & W203, the shine did improves with every coat after the initial few coats.

However I didn't see much "wet look" on my Zainoed W211 (First Auto) but I must say, the car came back spick and spank after each visit.

Each time I asked her to wash car, I gip her extra money cos washing car imho is not in their job description......hahahah!
