Thanks for the tip Unker. Looks like I'm sold on the Fiscon Pro, does AutoSpritze have it? Read in some other thread that Blackknight has lobang for $780.

The other thing that bugs me about the car is the different colours between the low beam (Xenon) and the rest of the lights (high beam, fog lights, parking lights and number plate lights) do you have any recommendations (types of bulbs) for getting the lot changed to make the colours a uniform whiteness.

IMHO

Fiscon BT U can buy yourself directly from Fiscon.

Check with Bro Blacknight where he installed his.

Bro randy aka 9339 has ordered his!

Dunno whether he has received it.

Think he's goin to Nam Huat to install it & code it there hopefully.

BTW on the VAGSG forum, there is a Dr. Hanson under the Commercial thread.

He conducts monthly GB for Kufatec products including Fiscon BT.

He usually get his customers to install their buys at Nam Huat too.

It's not only installing the Fiscon BT, but U need to code your ECU which is in the installation instructions - in the Fiscon site DL.

When that works, it's better than oem cos it has all the features of oem with full integration + A2DP aka audio bt streaming.

If U wanna keep your ride long, I will IMHO recommends U to buy only "original Philips" HID bulbs and Philips after market HID sets.

I am like an old record and keep playing over & over again.

There's lots of Philip fakes in the market and some touted as oem Philips, Philips burner, GE Burners, etc.

Fake Philips & cheapo HID sets in the long run has outgassing effect which will ruin the reflective lining in your heaplamps.

Dun mean to frighten U! Choice is yours.

1. Your Low Beam Xenon - Not Bi-Xenon - W211 has no Bi-Xenon (High & Low Beam) use D1S bulbs. The stock D1S bulbs IIRC is 5000k.

If U change your high beam H7 bulbs to after market HID H7 set 6000k color , it will look whiter than your low beam and now make it look yellowish (the other way round this time).

U can change your low beam D1S bulbs to Philips 6000k color too.

The color matched but the original Philips D1S at Benzline IIRC will set U back $500 + 7% GST = $535.

Whereas someone can sell U a cheapo D1S bulb set for around $200 or lesser but U run the risk of outgassing in the future.

2. Your High Beam H7 - Original Philips H7 after market set will easily set U back by $300+ though lots of people claimed they can sell U for much lesser.

Original Philips H7 set comes with warranty cards with serial numbers.

When U switched on your HID high beams, it will take some 15 to 30 sec to attain full brightness cos the xenon gas in your HID bulbs need to be heated up to working temperature unlike Halgoen bulb which the brightness is instaneous

3. Your Fog Lamp is H11 and if U instal after market H11 HID sets U might have a problem if U have the cornering light features for your fog lamps.

With the cornering light features, your fog lamp will be lighted up at each turn and off when your steering go straight. This on/off of the H11 HIDs in quick successions especially going up mscp the error msg will comes on even though your fog lamps are working perfectly. The reason is that HIDs are not like Halogen bulb. They cannot switch on & off fast enough, so ending up showing an error msg. If U do not want the error msg, U can switched the fog lamp while driving but risk getting fines from TP hor.....choice again is yours.

My Rp1 worth of humble person opinion!:becky:

Thanks Unker! I guess the easiest (and cheapest) way to 'harmonize' all the light colours would be to replace the stock halogens with Philips 4300K Crystal Visions. Don't think I'll go for HID conversions and run the risk of getting into trouble with TPs. I'm also considering replacing the number plate lights with white LEDs, to get that Lexus GS300 look.

I'm definitely going for the Fiscon BT, I really cannot stand to look at that ugly stuck-on controller, what was C&C thinking, how could they have inflicted this on their customers? :noidea:

Got another question...Sorry to be such a problematic newbie :becky:

My owner's manual came with an L-shaped metal rod, salesperson told me it comes with all Merc manuals, but have no idea what it's for; anyone knows?

I just bought an '08 W211 and it came with some sort of aftermarket bluetooth controller (picture link below) with only 3 buttons (bluetooth logo, +, -) on it, I'm told it was installed by C&C. Unfortunately the car did not come with instructions for this bluetooth unit. Hope some kind soul could point me to where I could get instructions on how to operate this.

The usual code is 1234 or 0000 or unless someone has changed it.

Like I say if cannot go & find Tomo-cse at Bedok Industrial Park.

Thanks everyone for the instructions, my BT is working now. But it's too ugly for words, and functionality is very limited. I'll be ripping it out, once I get my hands on the Fiscon Pro.:becky:

Thanks! That's a mystery solved. I would never have spotted that in the thick manual.

Called Nam Huat, they'll install but cannot do coding, we'll need to go somewhere else to do the coding, there's no way to verify on the spot if the install was done successfully? If only there's some way to hook up my own notebook to the ECU.

Those who bought from Dr. Hanson in the VAGSG forum - he coded the ECUs for them be it Audi or Volks thru VAGCOM not Merc.

I guess workshop with Star Diagnostics should able to do the simple Fiscon BT ECU coding.

Go & DL the installation instructions - the steps for coding the ECU are there.

Can show the coding to people like MBM or AutoSpritze to see if they can do it. IMHO, they should be able to.

For AutoSpritze - see Ah Heng - say Unker Seah from Batam sent U!

I installed at Nam Huat, very happy with their workmanship, they helped me remove the existing ugly Bluetooth too (finally figured out that its a Bury Technologies Comfort Compact BT).

As for coding, I just printed the instructions which you provided and brought it to a workshop near my place to do the coding. It's the first time they've actually done this type of coding, but managed to figure it out by following the instructions. I guess any workshop with the necessary Merc diagnostic equipment would be able to do it.
