The guy sitting behind looks happier in merc! :becky:

My heart was initially set to get the F10 (that is why waited for it to launch when W212 was only 204K when i test droved ).

Its low OMV and exterior was kinda let down, though i still love its sportier interior. What really pissed me is the SE...make me felt like i'm begging him to sell me.

Unker, good post!

My take:

1. Tow kay look: W212

2. Sporty or Gu look: F10

3. Value for money (Price vs OMV): W212 for sure

4. Things I don't like: F10 new headlights & front grilles, W212 tail lights

If I die die have to make a choice now, I'll take the W212 for sure, but first must find a way to mod the tail lights, got comand or no comand never mind. Wakakaka!

the F10 interior looks better

pricing is a important deciding factor

also W212 are 4 cylinders with turbo charge and 5-speed auto transmission for E200 and E250; E300 comes with 6 cylinders and 7-speed auto transmission

F10 523 and 525 comes with 8-speed auto and 6 cylinder engines

how much are the latest prices now?

what about reliability?

In terms of depreciation per year, I think the 523 should be about the same as the E300, which makes those looking for a logical choice easier...

I really like the F10. It is a back-to-basics BMW with all the latest tech especially the 8-speed gearbox and 4-wheel steering. Merc's 5-speeder is ancient in comparison to the swift-shifting ZF 8-speed - that's my main beef if one were to get a E250 over a 523i.

E300 upwards use 7 G-Tronic.

The 5 gear auto is used in the E200 and E250 as the TC 1.8L engines make good torque from low rpms, hence less need for closer gear ratios using more gears.

It's no excuse for MB to use the 5-speed like I mentioned previously. Yes, you're right about the extra torque. But isn't it even better to have 7 close ratios that will make use of the torque band even more efficiently? And just imagine the cruising mileage efficiency of the extra 2 gears... Certainly helps for NSH drives. Don't like that MB only leaves the 7G for the more expensive V6 models and above. I'm okay if MB spaced the ratios of the 5-speeder well, but the 5th gear is so tall and the 1-4th gears are very closely spaced, so progress is very draggy and fuel guzzling.

Too bad Merc still has not introduced TC to their regular V6 models. And yeah, 7 G-Tronic on the E240 can't hurt either.

A TC 3L would be great, just like the 535.

I sat in both cars but some how, I feel that the W212 E class interior seems to have been built to a price. Maybe its just me but I feel that the interior design seems less opulent than the W211 facelift interior.

In any case, if anyone is interested, I have got a E200 Kompressor in excellent condition. Please see details from link below. Thanks.

i agree to other bro views as well.. when W212 is 1st introduced..it does not emit a redical new look kind of looks... but now with more times looking at it.. it really has it own distinct looks... especially when all the exterior lights are on as well.. white HID, LED DRL and taillights combination are simply fabulous coupled with the sleek car body.. haha

i had such a hard time deciding last month as well between these 2 rides before deciding on the 212..staring at both cars on the computer as well as the real deal..comparing their qualities inside out.

F10

Felt the form was too bland for such a high profile car. Din like the previous one as well as i found the form somewhat distorted. The current form is better in terms of proportion but not as sleek as say the jag. Never liked the interior of beemers. Looks dated. buttons and dash don seem to be coordinated. The dials are reminiscent of the 80s..Some may say its simplicity in design. But i feel its just a bad case of mix and match. Wats up with the drum stick shift?? Cant dispute on its performance so its more of an emotional reaction than its performance.

W212

Many wld agree that its not love at first sight. Strangely, the exterior form grows on you..almost like what an arrange marriage should be i think..emotions came on later..like most here I was also saying stuff abt the tail lights looking like any other jap car..but seriously (not being bias) nothing out there looks like it..mm mayb the audis..ha. Cockpit is well conceived i tot..a/c grills made sense as it connects with the rest of the controls.. elegance with poise and a mean stance made up for its lack of power..its an elegant mix i tot.

Understand design is subjective. This is just my take. Guess the overall package was wat i went for..:)

Glad that you finally decided on the W212...one more bro won over by the "look"... Actually not just look as the CGI engine is very responsive as well....many commented about the rear lights but actually, they look quite unique...the more you look, the more you like them...btw did you go for the Advantgarde option?

yeah lightning...i did the avantgarde e250...

i don think the sonata's tail lights look the same as ours... perhaps at a glance. We as drivers we see so many on the road...and not many backsides look as nice tho..ha..sonata for one is shapeless...i think its all abt proportion..

take for instance..given 2 females with different proportion in a same dress will evoke different emotions and it does make lotsa diff..
