Hey guys,

It's been about a month since we got the E250 CGI. We're very happy with the car, my dad and I, although one thing bugs us real bad. It's the Parktronic. Because it is activated every time you go below 25-30km/h, nearly every time we slow down it malfunctions.

What happens is that Parktronic is activated normally. Then out of nowhere, when we're waiting at the traffic lights, the front left sensor suddenly goes to the max and the warning beep screams for 2-3 seconds. As fast as it comes it goes again. Sometimes it only happens once. Sometimes it happens every 3 seconds. Sometimes both the front sensors will go bonkers together. And sometimes, we don't even have a problem at all. And all this is without anybody or any car nearby.

The sensors still work fine however, as when we approach any wall or object it will progressively sense it until we're too near. But because it's so noisy and irritating we turn it off all the time, resulting in some near misses at carparks. Also, every time the car is turned on Parktronic is automatically on, so we've to keep turning it off.

Rear sensors have no issue at all.

Any of you guys can offer any advice? We went back to the PI workshop and they gave us what I thought was a ridiculous suggestion: to paint a layer of paint over the sensors to make them less sensitive. Hmm... They said no solution otherwise.

Would greatly appreciate any help.

Cheers. :becky:

Well, we're open to options... Want to rectify the problem by ourselves if possible. The professionalism of the appointed workshop is frankly quite appalling! Don't really trust to leave it to them unless there is no other way. Also, I'd like to hear if anyone else had similar problems and got it solved.

I m told that some of these appt workshops when they can't solve the problem, they send the car back to the AD. I m told they have their ways!

Therefore U should insist to their appt. workshop to correct the problem.

Ask them siow boh?

All PI know where to go if they cannot solve the problem.

Question is, are they willing to foot the bill for customer?

Most common tactic is DELAY.

My E250CGI had similar issue on day 1, when I collected the car.

Drove out with family and while stopping at the traffic lights, the parktronic suddenly "beep". Wife thought I drove too far on to the pedestrian line and thus it beeps... never knew parktronic is so powderful to be able to sense road lines....

Went back to C&C to install my reverse camera (no stock on Day 1 of collection, so they called me back 2 days later) and re-do the HO car film, and after that, the parktronic behaves perfectly ok since then. So I lost the super function of the parktronic capabilities to detect traffic lines.

Maybe it is due to paint sealant applied? I got my ride immediately after the nano sealant and that's the day my parktronic demostrated this funny function.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Mark

Okay, I will soldier on to get it solved... They say that they'll need a longer time, 1-2 days to check what's wrong. I hope those are days well-spent... Hate leaving a new car at the workshop.

I've the same problem too, it's beep suddenly now & then!! I think is e design or quality problem of e products.

Hey Mark. Sorry, what's HO?

We didn't do any paint sealant and basically we didn't do anything to the car. No window tint also. Drove out of the showroom and it already had this problem.

It seems like quite a common problem. On top of you guys here there are countless others on mbworld and benzworld experiencing this across all models, not just the W212.

Funny that MB nailed almost everything on the car and didn't pay much attention to even a simple thing such as parking sensors.

Anybody else out there with this issue?

Hi, I had the same puzzling problem! Initially my appointed workshop thought it was due to faulty sensors and had all the front sensors replaced but it didn't solve anything. Eventually, I sent my car to MBM who diagnosed and solved the problem almost immediately!

The problem lies with the sensors being too close to the mounting base for the front number plate. Mine was protruding a fraction too far out because the double sided tape came loose. Have your mechanic take a look or send your car to MBM.

I have great confidence in their competency. They have so far solved my "faulty Parktronic" problem and my Engine Check Light problem which a TWM appointed workshop had no clue to either!!!

Hope this helps... :music:

The radio will get softer when reversing AFAIK... To allow you to hear the sensors better. Is that the cause?

Sent the car in today to MBM. Actually didn't intend to get it fixed till later in the month as we have another car in the workshop. But guess what... This morning a foreign domestic worker in a bicycle lost control and hit our front bumper! The result: some scratched paintwork and a loose number plate. There must have been divine intervention working here...

So called up MBM, and they helped us solve our problem within 45 minutes. They got us a new number plate holder, did some polishing of the paint and it looks as good as new. But more importantly - no Parktronic issues so far. :becky: They said the problem is usually caused by an oversized number plate or a plate which is wrongly mounted.

Very impressed with MBM so far and two thumbs up to them! :bounce:

Good to hear that the problem is resolved.

MBM diagnosed and fixed my Parktronic fault in 30mins which another workshop couldn't in 2 days!!! Not exaggerating. :bounce:

Just a quick question,

What does MBM stand for? Cycle and Carraige Workshop?

And another thing.

Do you guys find Bi-Xenon Lights in singapore useless as a lot of the roads are very well lit and you would only need the Bi-Xenon lights in pitch black roads like in malaysia?

Was up in malaysia the other day,

my merc is fitted with bi-xenon,

really big impact the bi-xenon had on me after bringing up to malaysia.

Appreciate your guys opinions,

Cheers

MBM Wheelpower - outside workshop not C&C.

Bi-Xenon is useful anyhow you slice it because it's infinitely brighter than halogens, and even if they aren't they look great and gives the car a more 'expensive' look at night. Only thing is that they are an expensive option so yes, quite redundant in SG unless you really need it.

For those whom still having this problem, dont panic!!! Just remove yr stock nos plate cover, which I did it two days and the problem is gone for good. Also, for yr infro, if yrs is a C&C stock nos plate cover u can sell it for a good price too :)
