E class SPORT mode & Agility suspension

During the meetup, my buddy and I on the topic of SPORTmode selection. I told him there is a different between the button switch suitated at the center console and the one near the gear shift but not too sure of the actual differences. Here is my finding from the website.

Standard Agility suspension - with selective damping system uses shock absorbers to adept to the road surface for increase driving comfort.

Optional Agility suspension which comes with a button switch at the center console not at the gear shift. Once the SPORT button is selected, electronically controls damper system which my SE told me is that the car will be lowered by 15mm.

Based on the bronchure from C&C its explains that Dynamic handling package as :-

once SPORT mode is selected damping system becomes tighter and engine's response are better.

All the above has not mentioned about hp gains which i suspect the SPORT mode features are just like Sprint booster which helps to gain during spring run from stop position. Also, i have yet to test the SPORT mode thingy as my ride is still running-in. Frankly, having this Optional Agility suspension is a pain in the neck bcos it is not advisable to change it or lower the car due to various reason, I m in a dilemma as i wanna change to a bigger rim size and lower the car bcos of this Opitional Agility suspension comes with my car i m unable to mod to my liking.

As for the SPORT button near the shift gear which my previos CLC coupe has it. I used this feature throughout my owership of the ride. The different between the C = Comfort and S = SPORT is that the car performs better in acceleration and best of it, no significance increase of FC - fuel consumption at all. Hence, my advise to those CLC owners, put to SPORT mode instead of COMFORT. As for the rest of others mercs classes, i cant comment on it.

Anyone have better insight or infro on this topics? Feel free to give me yr comments!!!

IMHCCBO!

If U want bigger rims & lower ride probably with HRW Coilovers - JUST DO IT!:becky:

In the Audi they call this function Audi Drive Select or ADS.

ADS cums in 3 modes & in some higher specs ride they have 4 modes.

Comfort, Auto, Dynamic & Individual.

In Dynamic Mode which probably like your Sport Mode, will stiffen the suspension, steering & ecu mapping when activated.

In Individual Mode - U can do your preferred settings individually for your suspension, steering & ecu mapping to be in comfort, auto or dynamic mode.

I know at least 1 guy who have gone ahead to lower his ride with HRW Coilovers, Bigger Rims, BBK and I believe also front & rear arbs.

U might wanna talk to this guy what happen to his "Sport Mode" or rather Dynamic Mode for his ride after the suspension change.

Last but not least - In case U might wanna consider changing to front & back to BBK.

Just like in Audi, they have a HOLD ASSIST function which I think your car also have like mine.

That's when your car cums to a stop say at the traffic lights, U migh wanna

activate the HOLD ASSIST function and take your leg of your brake pedal.

In Audi, they have additional brake calipers on the rear rotors for this function. Meaning once U upgrade your rear to BBK, U also lose this function.

How the HOLD ASSIST works on our Merc - Unker still trying to find out how it actually works unless someone here can enlighten me like Buddha....amithaba!....hehehehe! :becky:

unker, u mean the hold function right?

for my W211 to activate the Hold function is:

Depress the brake.

Depress the brake again quickly until HOLD appears in the display.

HOLD is activated. You can release the brake pedal.

I think is the same for W212 too ba.....

Yes Ah Hwee!

I find this method quite antique!

For Audi - U just press a button & it's activated.

When U drive off, the HOLD ASSIST disengage and when U come to a stop,

it automatically engage again - not like ours have to step step each time we want it. sipeh lay cheh!

The Qs here is if U change your rear brakes to BBK, will this function still works?

Okie....if you do not have the Agility suspension you can opt for human adaptive system.

That means if you want to lower your car by 15mm please call your 120kg tua pui chio bu to sit in and if you want to slam your car another 10mm to 25mm lower you can add another 100kg pui chio bu in. Swee swee one and according to statistics all tua pui chio bu or/and pui chio bu sure love E-capulet one. Almost forget, those pui chio bu can function as "Hold Assist" via your voice command (Mercedes terms as Linguatronics) i.e help to hold you and assist to cum one. WHAHAHAHA

Bo pian.....can't resist to OT bru's thread. Paiseh, paiseh.

Guest Mr. M

So there is a standard agility suspension and an optional agility suspension?

So confusing. I thought there is only agility suspension or Airmatic.

BTW, does the AMG package for the W212 come with any sport button on the dash? That is, not on the gearshift column.

Anyway, I tried Sport instead of Comfort, like not much difference. :s

Yap, am not sure whether there are two types of agility suspension in e market or not. Mine is not e AMG sports package but it does comes with SPORT button at e central console. U mentioned that u tried e sport mode, e button is it at e gear shift? Wat abt FC & engine response etc? No difference at all?

We don't have the AMG package either, so we only have the C-S button, no Sport button.

OK, I tried a bit of the S mode after the car is run-in. There is marginally better performance with the gearshifts held to a higher rpm, but nothing much.

That one only comes with the sport package AFAIK.

Found this link, its explains the differents between the SPORT & Agility suspension. Under the SPORT or Dynamic handling package didnt mentioned about the suspension will lower by 15 mm. I think my SE pull a fast one on me. Hopefully, this is the case, so that i can change my spring and slam the car as much as possible.
