I heard about this 6 months penalty also, but dunno the details exactly.

But our bro Lightning here changed from W204 to W212 within 4 months, and didn't hear him cowpeh also, so should be ok. Unker also changed in less than 6 months.

What 6-month penalty?

Anyway, E Class is a better deal than the F10. Base F10 OMV is a low $37K, and yet charging same as the E Class. Crazy. The depreciation per year for a base F10 would allow us to get the E250 or even the E300!

No lah!

Someone was talking about cannot sell their W204 less than 6 mths old.

Told them if open Cat E call sell any time but for Cat A & B got to wait.

BTW - From LTA website for wanting to sell their less than 6 mths old car registered under COE Cat A & B

Note:

** If your vehicle falls under COE Category A and Category B, you can only transfer the vehicle three months after the date of registration. An Additional Levy (AL) on top of the transfer fees may be imposed if a transfer of vehicle occurs within the 4th to 6th month from the date of registration. The AL is the positive difference between the Quota Premium of the relevant car quota category at the point of transfer and the quota premium paid for the registration of the car.

A transfer of vehicle within the first three months from the date of registration may be allowed in the event of death of the registered owner. However, the transfer of vehicle application may be subjected to Additional Levy.

Better check with your bank on the penalty issue, rule 78 kill......

My recent experience....$100K loan used up only 6 month over 5 year, penalty is >$12K.

Unless you are like Unker buy car ' Cash No Kiam '

I was choosing between the F10 and W212..... wanted to go back to BMW since I used to have the E60 523i before selling it off for my overseas posting.

After seeing both F10 and W212, still prefers the look and value of W212, especially the avantgarde version.

So chose my E250 Avantgarde in the end. Lucky for me, as most F10 buyers are still angry over the super low OMV.

Cheers,

Mark

Haha... yes, I am a happy owner!

Anyway, back to the topic of Price/Package of E250CGI.

How much is the PI price (including COE) with exactly the same accessories list as C&C? I have a friend looking around for E250 Avantgarde as well, and wanted to do a comparison too before committing.

From what I gathered, besides the peace of mind in case problem car can bring back to C&C within warranty period, the accessories seems to be less in a PI car. Original factory-fitted accessories will cost a lot more to retrofit due to freight charges and labour, plus the hassle of getting a good mechanics to fit them.

Perhaps it will be good if some buddies here who bought a PI E250CGI can share with us on the current price?

Cheers,

Mark

We just got a Keyless Go equipped car with basically all C&C specs less the smaller (and stuff we don't use) things like window blinds and extra boot compartment storage. Slightly less than 200k.

Hi,

I am also on the lookout for E250 Avantgarde. One thing I do notice, not sure if you have checked:

- OMV seems quite low for some reason, the places I have checked seems to have OMV at around $44K, which is in the area for F10, but C&C OMV for 250 is around $52-$55K. This made me worry that the Pi may be importing E200 and chipping it up, rebadge etc.

Also, I am not sure if you picked this up, C&C E class has the napa leather (real leather) installed. All PI cars uses the man made leather, this option alone is at least a few thousand dollars. I personally don't mind it, prefer napa, but given the choice, prefer to pay below 200K for E250G avantgarde than getting E200 with C&C...

If anyone spot any good PI pls post in the forum.

You pay what you get, I supposed.

Getting from PI seems cheaper in the short term, but it might be cheaper because of lesser accessories and other ways of reducing costs by the PI.

PI also need to make money.... though profit margin will be slightly less than C&C since they don't have high fixed cost compared to C&C.

But if you want to get it cheap and don't need unnecessary equipments (and won't want to retrofit later on), and have a good list of trustworthy mechanics who knows Mercs well, then PI is definitely cheaper...

I calculated that with all extra freebies thrown in and service credits provided by C&C, the difference is not very much to me, considering the peace of mind... Again, that's just me.

Happy searching!

Cheers,

Mark

I didn't really notice the leather difference between the C&C E250 and PI E250. I saw the difference only in the E200 and E250, and it's the same for either C&C and PI, because AFAIK the E200 is using MB Tex. Which is not bad either. More durable than real leather.

Yes, OMV is important, our Avantgarde E250 has OMV of above 50k from PI, even if yours is a E200 it won't be too far off this figure. Because the E200 Avantgarde looks so similar to the E250 Avantgarde it is very easy to convert, but there are some tell-tale signs you can look out for. These are some I investigated upon:

1) Instrument Panel Cowling - make sure Avantgarde models all have the silver cowlings

2) Get the VIN and check for yourself whether it is an E200 or E250

3) Avantgarde models have Xenons but on top of that, should have swiveling headlamps and auto highbeam assist etc - part of Intelligent Light System.

4) Avantgarde models have three-louvred grille instead of the standard Elegance 4 louvres.

5) LEDs should be less bright with headlights on; it will go back to normal brightness with headlamps off. If retrofitted, I doubt this feature is incorporated.

Apart from these I think it is very difficult to tell apart a E200 Avantgarde and E250 Avantgarde with similar specs. Tread with caution!

Avantgarde is the trim level and so be it e200 or e250, the interior (design + material used) and exterior (looks + design) must be identical excluding those extra options which buyer can pay for. you cannot tell the differences between the 2 unless you are referring to E250 SE and E250 Avantgarde (both PI models).

Someone here has actually posted in another thread how to differentiate SE and Avantgarde trim by looking at the interior meter panel.

SE meter should looks like this... http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/9636/007vbr.jpg

Avantgarde meter should looks like this... http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/6632/large1852711765682.jpg

There is another PI trim called the Sport and it has only 3 circles instead of the normal 5 compared to the Avantgarde model. All the 3 trim i have seen them myself in 2 PIs showroom i have visited.

I feel the interior meter panel is the toughest item for anyone to retrofit locally (IMHO). So when you are doing shopping from PI make sure you get what you are being sold.

My family is still waiting for the E200 Avantgarde (promised by end may actually).. some shipment issues and was delayed from the PI end... personally quite frustrated but PI promised to deliver to us before mid of July now and also captured in B&W. At the mean time, the waiting continues and hopefully this time will be a valid one ;)

One more thing, C&C is clearing YOM09 E200 and E250 Elegance stock... price on application with the C&C sales person... i reckon should be an attractive one... if dun need those avantgarde features... may worth to take a check there as well since C&C E class OMV is not low for sure...

That person who mentioned on how to differentiate via the instrument panel is actually me... :bounce:

The Sport trim I guess is the AMG package? AFAIK it should be the same interior cowling as the Avantgarde, but maybe I'm wrong - the three circles one is more likely in the W204 C-Class.

Wow, have you bidded for COE yet? We got ours 1.5 weeks after confirming order with PI... We didn't want to deal with anything other than ex-stock. E200 Avantgarde is a real value proposition especially since the E200 will have actually the max torque hitting at a lower rpm... I do feel a certain lag for the E250 below 3,000rpm. Besides, can always tune up a E200!

Interesting C&C offer... Well this weekend we'll be going to the PI workshop to fix our Parktronic problem, this will be the first real test of so-called 'aftersales support'! Fingers crossed.

Anyway, for all those out there contemplating between the E250 and E300 - just a word of advice. I thought it was obvious from the on-paper specs that the E250 is the more value buy because it produces more torque than the E300 and is actually just as quick, while drinking less fuel. The engine in the E250 is good, I've got no complaints about the power although it comes in a bit too late for my liking. But me peeve with the E250 is with the 5-speeder - it shifts so slow, probably one of the slowest auto boxes I've ever tried! The slurs are so obvious and is the most keenly felt between gear 3-4-5. 5 is an especially tall gear.

I just wished Merc would put the 7G gearbox into the E250, it would improve FC and the drive so much. If you can afford it, go for the E300 - 7G and V6 is a more refined package. Of course, if the E250 is finally available with 7G, then it is a different story! Which might be the case, because the 4-cylinder diesels (E220 CDI, E250 CDI) all are coming with 7G next year.

haha... is u.. okok... becos in the thread no picture but juz a URL link so i just saved the links for reference. But that is a gd one to prevent buyer from kanna con by PI :) The E class sport trim is confirmed 3 circles only as seen in PI showroom. Not sure anyone is driving such a model here? can help to confirm too.

yes our COE already secured few months ago... not possible to get an ex stock then becos we wanted a YOM10 model and b4 Mar'10 then... everything is YOM09 only in SG showrm. Hence PI has to indent stock for us.

Furthermore, UK side has no more autobox as standard for E200 starting from this year. Anyone who wants to get a auto E200 will need to indent from factory. Well.. part of the waiting time package for us.

Anyway looking forward to the collection :)
