Hey guys!

As our cars are getting pretty old now, I'm sure most of you fellow W124 drivers would have experienced the wooly steering problem in our cars. Do any of you know where i can get reconditioned steering boxes? I just called various parts suppliers and was quoted more than 2k for a brand new one from Germany which is abit hard to stomach. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi!

Well my steering box is basically really loose already even though the cogs have been tightened to its maximum. This results in the car wandering across the road at times due to the excessive amounts of play. Would you mind telling me where you got your steering box overhauled? Thanks

bro i think u need to get a old 1 from the scrapyard and open up to replace the steering box seal as u are mentioning that it feels very wobbly. the reason is that the shaft is worn out. if u need help u can pm me.

Hi!

Thanks for all your advice. I managed to get a quote for a second hand one from propel for 250 bucks which still had some life left in it and should last me a few more years.
