me just went to Tan Lim motor at defu lane. My fren is working there for 8yrs & they have all the neccessary tools for merc & beemers. So i have done my serving there for just $168( voltronics engine oil, oil filter & all the neccessary checks). For promotion, they also throw in a $88( wash, clay, polishing package) + a $26( engine flush, oil treatment & gasoline treatment) for FREE! As for the resetting of servicing counter, actually u can DIY. i did it myself. So, at the end of the day, quite satisfied with their service.( servicing time from 10am to 4pm).

Cheerz!

*faint at price*

to reset your service indicator:

1. get in car

2. close door (need to or it will not switch mode)

3. turn key to accessories on (not engine on)

4. switch mode to service interval

5. press and hold the reset button by the side of the dash

6. press again to reset

7. boomz

These steps work on my previous FL W211

Switch ignition on (position one);

- Outside temperature display;

- Press the trip odometer reset knob three times consecutively (Voltage display appears);

- Select the Service menu with the + or – button;

- Service indicator displays items (1 – 14);

- Press the menu systems button until the outside temperature display appears.

BOOMZ!!!

hmmm that is weird. you can do it anytime one. i reset it before. cause i wanted to service every 15k instead of 10k.

let me go try again. must have missed a step or two.

one thing to note is that the switch must be in acc only. so if you try it with engine running it will not work.

*WARNING: DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! I DO NOT RECOMMEND NOR DO I ENDORSE THE USE OF THE FEATURE DESCRIBED BELOW!*

you can go into the dyno mode. it turns off all the possible safety (ABS/EBD/ESP/etc) feature on the car. hahaha....

I guess this thread would appeal to a significant number of us as i've had similarly disappointing experiences with a once trusted workshop/sponsor. Here's the latest.

I've had my check engine light (EL) on and i sent it in, and i was told that it was due to me changing my headers (kleeman headers on M271), without changing the gasket. From what i've gathered, there are users of the K headers w/o any installation of any gasket, and they had no problem with the EL. So i was assured with a bill of $300+ that it would solve my problem. 5hrs after i drove out of this workshop, the light came on again, and i called the workshop up. They said it was due to my engine bay wiring's wear and tear that needed to be replaced, which they were so certain about. This required $2.2K to fix, and was allegedly independent from the EL that the gasket apparently, and so "coincidentally" caused just hours ago. I went to another workshop and after hours of diagnostics, they narrowed it down to my exhaust which previously under-went an op and removal of a cat converter. This caused erroneous readings of CO/O2 to the ecu and O2 sensors which they deemed was the sole problem right from the start, NOT the gasket NOR the engine bay's wiring at any point.

If any of you could share your knowledge/views/expertise on a similar engine problem you have encountered, it will be greatly appreciated.

I once had a lot of faith and trust in this workshop that i send both my cars to since 06, and have been recommending to all my merc colleagues/friends. I do neither now.

yes try ROUND. The boss is sincere and doesnt seem out to make a quick buck.

also, he has all the necessary merc diagnostic equipment.

forever not returning to man-slaughtering.butcher.mechanics....

I had the same feeling for this manslaughter.butcher.mechanics too. Recently went for servicing and they quoted a ridiculous amt to fix suspension. Give up.

Believe forum is the best place to learn which workshop is a chop shop/ Slaughter House or decent joint.

However another rule of thumb would be to access the owner/owners, have Patronized a Reputable workshop who charged meS$3500 for labour installing my Bilstein PSS9 Coilovers & M3CSL Anti Roll bars (Both bought by me). Shop has 3 owners & 2 of them staying in Condo with wifes as home maker & driving fairly good cars :becky: Now i know who contributed to their coffers:Cry: it's for my ex E46M3

This is another Joker story, above same wkshop quoted me S$2000 as labour to removed head & fit it back after pot & polish (Pot & POlish seperately charged), upon fitting back head, cams belts key were off by 3 keys & car was asthmatic which they didn't know what's the problem hence i needed to drive back to Audi to have it checked & within 2-3 mins, they isolated the fault & chop shop main man didn't admit was his fault even when Audi staffs nicely drop by in the evening to point out wher fault was! I then took car & have spare head fitted back & cost for removing modified head (Chop shop pot & polish head) & have spare head fitted by Audi AD cost less then S$900!!!!!!!

Another wkshop quoted me KW Club Sports Coilovers S$4800/ excludes install & need to wait 1-2 months which it's being ship in! Wow doesn't carry stocks & using sea Freoight yet quote so damn high! Found a shop who sells exactly as above mentioned for S$3k inclusive GST & AIR Freight, coilover arrived within 4 days upon my full payment! Install at a well known KW installer for S$250!

However i don't blame thses guys for they are after all human & going after the Singaporean Dream, they lack talent (some do have) & do not have the Critical Vo.l so how? We the consumer ended up as Live Buffet Spread for them lor :Cry:
