K&N Purchase !

Ok so after running around and calling different places I've finally laid my grubby meathooks on this, Yep yep K&N airfilter for the W204 C200 at a really good price too wheee !

Anyways pics are attached as well once again from my crappy iphone3g camera however I forgot to take pics of the installation zzzzz i'm a dolt. Anyways heres the break down on prices when I rang around to hunt.

KBS -$158 (Ready stock no free cleaning)

McWell Ventures $158 (No Stock takes 2 mths to arrive FOC cleaning)

Autobacs $158 (No stock takes approx 1 working week to arrive)

Other K&N distri from K&N Website $158 without installation

My Purchase $140 flat no free cleaning, DiY installation

Part Number E-2011 cone type

Check your part number below

http://www.knfilters.com/search/appsearch.aspx

Installation is dead simple as i've had K&N's filters before just 6 screws to access the airbox, pop off the top and theres the ugly pink OEM airfilter sitting there. Give it a good yank towards the front of the car and it pops off replace with new K&N airfilter and reverse steps for a happier ride.

If anyone wants one i can help pickup a couple more at the same price and help with the installation. So far i've felt that the engine is breathing easier and it revs up faster, theres a cleaning kit you can buy for an additional $26 or $27 bucks comes with the cleaner and oil. So far i've not had problems with K&N and am enjoying it everytime i pull the car out for a drive.

Another Interesting link for those worried about the MAF

I bought from this company 1 year ago:

Speedworks Pte Ltd: 85 Genting Lane #03-04 Guan Hua Warehouse Bldg Tel: 67437288

See old thread: http://www.sgmerc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7092&page=2

If I remember correctly, I paid $100 each for the filter, both for my W204 and bmw. The part number is the same, E-2011. Can check them out since it is much cheaper.

NewC180:

uh? how come such huge difference in prices? the rest selling at $158. yet this SpeedWorks selling at just $100? Btw, K&N got fake ones in the market or not? If so, how to tell between fake and real?

Rssid:

Bro, regarding the photos you uploaded, the 4th photo shows a pink and beige filter. Is that your original OEM filter? Or is that the K&N filter? I thought the K&N filter should be red ??? Also, why is there a need to clean a newly opened filter? i thought a new set of KK&N filter comes readily oiled already? (pardon me if i'm wrong... i'm looking to get myself a new set of filters. so checking around.)

Hope any brothers who know the answers, don't mind do share with me ya? thanks!

No idea why it's cheaper (but I'm not complaining!). That was the price I've paid about a year ago, dunno if it is the same now. They are authentic, complete with K&N packaging, stickers etc etc. You can see all kinds of K&N filters displayed in their office.

1) Any one know what's the cost of the Stock engine air filter? That will help me decide if worth to change to K&N filter given it last longer than stock filter whereby it need to be change at 30,000km.

2) Another question where to buy the Stock filter and what the approx.cost?

I am always a believer of stock engine filter and change regularly myself with purchase from

Sin Ming shop. But have check several shops last week and they dont carry.

Thanks

Just to contribute for those interested in K&N

(...for those who are more DIY-inclined...and don't mind saving some $$ for kopi..erm in fact many cups of starbucks....)

Order your K&N through Amazon.com and get them to ship to your VPOST USA address (free shipping for >USD25). Pay VPOST to forward ship to your singapore address.

Eg. of the K&N filter model for my car....

http://www.amazon.com/33-2181-Replacement-Air-Filter/dp/B00062ZSCC/ref=sr_1_1?s=gateway&ie=UTF8&qid=1285324293&sr=8-1 Can easily find your exact application by the filter finder function embedded in the above link.

As I need 2 pieces of the filters: total product cost= USD47X2 = USD94=~S$125

VPost charged me about S$40+ (cheaper if you only need 1 piece)

total damage: ~S$125 + S$40 = S$165-S$175.

McWell quoted me S$240:tsk:

Time: 1-2weeks from ordering to arriving at the doorstep

DIY cost: free

DIY time: 15 min + dirty hands:whistle:

P1030757.jpg

See the dirt and dead leaves.......some US W203 owner even reported finding a dried up dead mouse carcass inside!
