Soory bros....Steal your thread a bit.....

I have change my low beam bulbs (just change bulbs) to Phillips CV 4300k Halogen, notice now left beam shine HIGHER then right side.

Any bro know if alignment can be adjusted? (I dont mean the manual adjustment inside the car beside the steering wheel) Mine is C180 BE. questions is weather the alignment of the beam can be adjusted?

I drive 6 brand new cars previously and each and every time i go Vicom to for check for on the 3 year, it always failed as alignment is out the men at Vicom said. But they pass me as they said its not critical but on paper, it stated beam alignment,FAILED.

Pls advise where can re-ailgnment the beam...

Thanks

First, check whether the bulbs are fitted tight and nice or not. Park your car about 3ft facing a wall, preferably at a not too bright place. You can then see whether your left and right lights are balance or not by measuring the height of your light beams shining on the wall.

If they are not balance, there are 2 small holes on top of your headlights with a hexagonal shape, I think it is white in colour. You can use hex keys to adjust the height of your lights shine here. Paste masking tapes on the wall to mark the preferred shine height and adjust so that the lights shine nicely at the masking tapes.

However, this is not as easy as it sounds. If you can find some one pro at this, get them to do it for you. I think good car accessories shops should be able to do this well.

Hope info helps.

just learned that its not advisable to use HID for the hi-beam coz it take a while (few seconds) to response unlike the halogen (immediately)...especially when you need to flash on-coming or vehicle in front of you...furthermore why waste $$ when you seldom use it anyway...i just changed mine to Philips 5000k

i was told that it is normal for the left to be slightly higher than the right because it is suppose to shine on road signs whereas the right should be lower otherwise it may be too glaring to on-coming vehicles...any bros can verify?

Installed my HIDs (6000k) with Amy last week. In summary, the experience was not what I was expecting after seeing all the talk in the thread.

Made an appointment on Saturday 7pm. Expecting it will be done in 1 to max 2 hours. Requested to change my Dipped Beam (H7), Fog Lamps (H11) and the Pole Light (T4 / T6 / M 5). Was told the cost is $100, $100, $15 respectively. Reasonable really, a bargain even.

Reached at 630PM in fact, as I was early, I waited for them to come. They rushed down and I really appreciated that. I hanged around chatted with Amy while the installation is being done. It seems like he knew what he was doing but it took him quite a long time to fix and secure one bulb. I was okay I guess since I set aside quite a large amount of time to do it.

It was 9pm and he wasn't done yet. I told them I'm going for a walk. Thank god there is a mini shopping mall by the car park. Got a hair cut and did a bit of shopping before I return to check on the installation.

I think it was almost 950pm but they were still not done. I waited some more (regretted not bringing my laptop) until about 1020pm before it was done. Looks good can't complain (white halogen pole lamp sucks though. haha). Paid in total $225+$50 (labour). I left feeling pretty satisfied with the install.

I was traveling on the expression way when I noticed the left Dipped Light was turning on and off on its own. I thought it was nothing but definitely needed checking by them again. Before I reached my destinations, I tested the Fog Lamps too, they seemed fine though. SMSed Amy that I will be back to let them check.

Over the whole of last week, the situation got quite bad. It was a crazy disco of lights and at the end, only the right fog lamp survived when I finally got the time to meet them.

Her husband immediately got to work when I reached the car park. I thought it will be a simple matter of adding cancellors (resistors really) to the HIDs. Suffice to say, I was very wrong and it took 3 hours again to fix the HIDs. In the end I had to pay another $32 dollars for the 'cancellors'. I remained calm and offered to just pay without haggling or arguing why it was not in the original bill and why it was not installed in the first place as I was late for an event.

I was quite annoyed, though. I thought they would know that Merc's electronics are very sensitive and precautions like this should have been taken, despite the slightly higher cost. They claim they have installed many E200k before mine so was I the only one that was the special case? In any case, they could have avoided the 2nd trip for himselves and me. Worst yet, I was under the impression that cancellors were installed already (I knew they need to be for reliability/stability's sake). How wrong was I?

Nevertheless, it is all working now, happy with the outcome, just writing this down so caveat emptor for the rest of the folks.

P.S.: Cancellors are just quality resistors, rough calculation below.

Original Halogen Wattage: 55W

After Install: 35W (HID) + 20W(Resistors),

Implies 20W over same amperage as before without the resistor (35W/12V=~3A), requiring a resistor of about 4 Ohm in series. But is can be a bit risky as the tiny resistor cannot take the load, so when placed in parallel, the amperage will be reduced safely. Not calculated, just demonstrate how it can be aga-rated.

Empathize with your experience!

I had no problem with my previous FL W211 HID for fogs & high beam but they were not from Amy.

My Main Beam has Xenon - I only changed the D1S bulbs to Philips 6000k

My High Beam I had original Philips 6000k with canbus - so no error

My Fog Lights - cheapo eBay

When I sold the FL W211 & moved the fogs to my Audi Q5, I needed cancellors. They blinked!

These so call cancellors are not the typical resistors U find on a circuit board or even ceramic resistor that can take heat. These cancellers are

"pretty big" and I have to pay $40 for them.

When I fitted fogs to my current A4, Steven installed them for me and

he has cancellers on hand in case I needed them & I did. Even after fitting the cancellers, Steven asked me to drive the car for a round to ensure no blinking & the cancellers does the job.

Typical HID error cancellors looks something like these.

End of the day after each mod, U gotta be happy! :becky:

Congrats on your light mods!

Change all your internal lights to white LEDs?....heheheh!

1. Front Dome Lights

2. Rear Dome Lights

3. Front Vanity Lights R/L

4. Right Footwall Lights

5. 4 doors courtesy lights

6. Glove Compartment Light

7. Boot Lights L/R & Boot Lid

Changed your licence plate lights to white LED?....hehehe!

lol~ oh well. of course happy lah. looks more like avt version of the w211. thinking of changing the tint to blue also. looks pretty nice! but i'm kinda worried about breaking the thermistor lines.

neh, i will keep the interior orangness, i think it looks smoothing.

oh btw, could any one confirm, the reading light for the front passenger and driver, are they yellow or white? did my previous owner changed them to white?
