hullo friends! can I check if anyone here has done ECU tuning for their SLK350 to increase hp? if so, can please share your after tuning experience, is the difference significant? (worth it?)

Thanks! :iconsalut:

Hi bronzee,

so far never heard of for SLK350........(350 not fast enough?)

Install a sprint booster.....change better plugs, change to K&N air filter, upgrade kleemann header, down-pipe and put in a brabus exhaust......

maybe you wanna give Dennis a call 9475 4255 as i know he do tuning for SLK200.....

happy modding........

cheers

thanks dude ;) I just wanted to find out if others have experience doing this and whether the effect is significant. the stuff you mentioned seems like quite an overhaul. will read up more about all this, thanks for the good input

Hi bonzee,

what i mention not really overhaul, is more on upgrading the stock parts and let the stock engine performs better (better response)........if over-haul better still.......3.5 litre i think do up to almost 4 litres......(if i am not wrong) but SLK350 should be powerful enough.......305bhp and 360nm but then again power is always not enough after awhile (i truly understand)

unless you wanna put in a supercharger or turbo............

cheers............

i think raw power and number ratings are not meant for the stock standard Merc range of cars - might really spoil the Merc ride if go too extreme ... the normal upgrade to boost the ride is acceptable but yours is a creamy 350 !

if u really keen into pushing the number output, can consider going for the 'traditional' cars like Type-R, WRX and EVOs or even the GTR ?

i think the SLK350 has a wonderful balance of power and classy ride ...

:)

SLK350 power definitely is there....305hp and 360nm for this small roadster ....don't really need to push for more power..........simple mod will do (air-filter, better plugs and perhaps a sprint booster and aslo for better handling put in a coilover and anti-roll bar)

and even if meet mid-life crisis that needs to push the power abit i think still ok the car is definitely in a very much stable condition unlike (WRX and the rest highly UNSTABLE vehicle to me :banghead:)......

cheers..............

Really? I'm under the impression that the SLK doesn't actually handle very well and is prone to losing traction easily. I've actually seen one of our member's SLKs lose traction while just changing lanes. I believe his was the only stock SLK using 16" rims in our convoy of around 5 SLKs. I think no one else exhibited this problem because they all had larger aftermarket rims.

I think more power is always great, but you'll need to upgrade your brakes and wheels to cope with the increased power. It's no fun having the traction control kick in every time you hit the gas.

Hi Sareve,

so far i don't have this traction issue as well but i think tyres do play a part.......of course to better improve the handling (coilover plus anti-roll bar is a must).......

cheers

Stock 16s are for 200s right? 350s come wif 17s stock. I have never had traction issues except at stand still or very wet carparks when stepping gas too aggressively can provoke the rear wheels abit. Medium to high speed handling is very good unless you try to violate laws... of physics, I mean.

The Pre-FL 350 only has 272bhp and 300Nm so there is some upside to play for. Saw an ad by DMS Automotive that claims Ecu increase bhp to 297. Won't say I won't try it in the future, but for now, my ride has more power than necessary on Singapore roads.

Hi redhood,

my SLK200 stock rims were 17ins so i supposed is typo error or maybe is R170 model?

Mod it man redhood.........

cheers

I think yours came with better specs like mine . As stated in the manual, original rim size for our 200 is 16"...

hey redhood! ya, mine's 272hp as well, power is good, just curious as to how much more the chip tuning can free up. my wheels are 18" and never had traction issues so far, in fact, its extremely stable even when rounding bends at high speed :batman:

btw, off topic a bit. I saw a red car SLK13 near my place some days back, very interesting :bboyspin:

Yes SLK13 is very nice (chio), i've seen once on the road as well...............

272hp is more than enough for our local road and the handling is definitely good.............(no doubt)

Potential is there, just whether will have a chance to feel it on Singapore roads. Although I have been so tempted, I have not even lowered the car. Just can't bear to lose the superb ride quality for my daily ride. Just too many humps to deal with each day.

Just the other day, my mechanic friend commented that the SLK looked very uncomplicated and should be easy to maintain it for many years of good service. Was quite happy to hear that. Don't think I wanna complicate issues for now. First mod will probably be to add roof module for practical reasons.

Brabus, KBS and Benzline do ECU chipping...

The one that impress me the most are from brabus... how many HP more u need ? they do stuff to improve your slk handling as well.

probably once a month, this guy from europe will come down here to do up cars like merc. the only downside are prices can shoot up to 10 to 30k or more easily.

Wow they send the guy down? Last time I asked KBS about getting Brabus to do my ECU chip upgrade, they said they'd have to remove the entire thing and send it to Europe instead. I think the price was 30k and beyond, but that was for the SL, SLK may be cheaper.

Yep, that's for KBS you'll have to leave your car there for quite a while as they got to take the ECU out to send it there. For brabus is different they send people here to do it and offer to UPSIZE your engine as well.

ECU chipping for SL is 30k and beyond ?

Hmm, that's impossible 30k for ECU chipping is madness even for a SL.

My uncle did his 911 for ECU remapping at barely 5k...

Probably they quoted you to UPSIZE your engine as well ? Piston change? If that is the case den probably 30k and beyond is possible...

Hm I can't remember exactly what they quoted me. But now that you mention it, I believe a chip upgrade by itself was 3k and they quoted me like a buncha additional engine upgrades to further boost HP and take advantage of the chip upgrade.

wow, that sounds quite doable. Dunno how much better output they can squeeze out of a 350?
