No harm.

That said, I did read somewhere it helps when starting up the engine i.e. less battery power required.

I do it habitually (audio inclusive) decades ago.

imo, not really. when u turn the key towards the crank, u may have noticed the fan and electricals actually go off... that means it's built-in that power towards them will be off prior to the crank.

as for turning off the a/c before shutting off the engine, one possible benefit i can think of is perhaps to 'dry' up condensation on the a/c pipes before u turn everything off?

but well, it may need more time to dry up.. so.. dunno already.. maybe someone can advice?

Look at it this way - newer cars with eco start stop crank and switch off engine so many times with the aircon on. It's designed to do this safely. Ever noticed the lag between cranking up and aircon air blowing? Seems like they have thought of the problem and already inserted a delay.

I'm quite sure they tested it for a while so it should be fine- it's not new technology after all

thanks, I usually turn it off because I don't like the movement of the car when it starts and possible damage to the car. The SA told me she turns it off also, because the aircon will be lower in fan speed when the engine is off.

From what i read somewhere... it goes into fan mode and not in aircon mode, aircon comes back on when the engine "awakes" to move. How true or which is true, didn't bother to research since i also turn it off.

That is so true, I hate the movement too. My mom said what's wrong with your car?!
