Gear jerking when down shifting

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

On and off i will experience gear jerking when there is a down shifting of speed. My ride is c180 cgi year 2010. Does anyone of you experience this? Do i need to bring back C&C to inspect or any other outside workshop can solve the problem? Thanks

Hi Knightmare69,

I have tried the ecu reset but the gear jerk still come back once in a while. The gear jerking is very strong especially from gear 2 to gear 1. Has any bro or sis over here experience the same? My ride is still within 6mths to claim for lemon law. Should I bring back to CnC to have a thorough check and claim from the 2nd hand car dealer? Any advice?

The only other thing I can think of is see if your TCU software is up to date. TBO, the 5G tronic isn't suited for city driving, the gearing is better for highway. I have the same problem as I have a 2010 c200 and in city driving my car is always trying to figure out what gear it should go. You can try changing your transmission fluid and filter if you haven't already.

Hi, Naruto78,

Whenever there is a jerk on down change, the mechatronic or sometimes also known as valvebody in the transmission is beginning to be leaking pressure. It will slowly worsen over time. It is a less than $2K job outside which you may want the dealer to take up the bill.
