Advice Needed on Fixing 300SEL's CCU

Hi All,

I recently purchased a 1991 300SEL. I just realized that the previous owner has bypassed the CCU (Climate Control Unit). Which is to say, the temperature control, Internal Circulation mode & Ventilation Selection Mode (Front, front and low, low only blower selection) has been bypassed.

From some of the readings that i have done, i gather that the CCU's circuit board is the culprit.  Soldering on the CCU's circuitry would have been weathered due to age, thus rendering it useless.

The solution recommended was to remove the CCU, re-solder the missing bits so that the circuitry would work again. This is simply "overhauling" the CCU's circuit board.

I am not a handy person and therefore do not dare try this.

Would any of you know of a reliable mechanic/vehicle electrician who can diagnose this problem and fix it?  If you do, pls advise.

I'll be grateful for any advise and suggestions that does not cost thousands of dollars to rectify.

NB: a/c compressor, a/c relay and related parts are working fine.

Thanks in advance!
