Let me help a bit. These coilovers are meant for W212 only. Part nos are different for all Merc models as the axle weights are different....each damper must match these weights correctly for right damping.

Eg....

Bilstein B16PSS10

48-141147 for w204

48-166560 for w212

Some questions asked a few times, I share it here so I don't have to repeat myself.

1 is the softest and 10 being the hardest. You can have 10 options to switch it around.  I put 1 so it is a waste of money for me. The reason I am giving up is I find it being too hard and low for me but 1 thing I will miss for sure is the superb cornering with these. I used to have it with an 18" AMG rim, these combination is damn good but your butts will suffer. Too hard but your cornering is damn stable, even my wife can feel the difference.

If your driving style is ah peh kind like me, really don't bother with these. I used to be quite fierce but a few divorce threats from my wife, I gave up. If your driving style is fierce, then get something like these, otherwise it's a waste of money. *Personal opinion.

My priorities has changed (keeps changing all the time) I want something more comfortable. I bought it one of the sponsors here for $2.8k. Not sure if I got carrot chop. If I do, please keep that a secret because I really can't do anything about it right now since the money is already in his pocket. There is nothing wrong with these suspensions and you don't expect Bilsteins to go wrong so soon anyway. The seller told me I have got top range anyway. If you are still worried, please visit your nearest Bilstein Dealer and get the new ones.

$2.8k? Impossible!

Most authorised Bilstein WS are quoting $4.2k for W212. Even if I were to order online from Germany, the price with shipping is $3.7k.

Looks like you had a great deal....sell at the same price or more!

I don't know. I got a whole package deal together with paint and trade in of AMG rim. I got it at 5k.  He told me paint spray is 2.2k. Trade-in of AMG rim is 1 to 1 exchange for normal stock rim. There goes my PSS3 tyres.  So I guess give and take, so 2.8k. Altogether 5k.

Oh yes....now I remember about the trade in 1-1 AMG rims for stock rims. :D This trade in was the 'mother" of all trade ins....you were the 1st! Champion lah...

OK...enough OT. Back to the Bilsteins

Actually I don't mind bartering this with a few hundred packs of Next Chill. I simply love smoking. I can smoke continuously 10 sticks at 1 go. I try very hard not to smoke so much. Doc Jtang will frown at this statement.. I don't mind bartering for a nice pre-own watch also but don't barter those Casio or Seiko. Price range should be around my suspension. These are the 2 things I will accept, nothing else for now.

This story reminds me of my final year student days....I was assisting in a ward round for my consultant, looking into an elderly Indian lady's case who had oral cancer & was due for a surgery the next day to remove her lower jaw. When I saw some signs of betel nuts in her mouth & informed my consultant about it...he flew into a scary rage, searched her drawers & finally found a bag of betel nuts under her mattress.  He threw it out of the window of SGH...lol. Scolded the patient & nurses for not monitoring her.

She died on the operating table the next day...God bless her soul.

The surgeon never flew into any rage again.... after going thru a long inquiry. Lol!

Enough OT...back to Bilsteins.

To be fair, suspension is not something I can take out to polish and see everyday. I drive normal and it serves me well. It has 10 options for you to choose from. I can't tell you which options you will be comfortable in but 10 is the hardest and lowest while 1 is the softest and highest. My own experience tells me a 3 will serve the purpose unless you siao.

I can let you have a test drive in my car. You feel the suspension if it is broken down or not and decide. I'm sure you can feel it if the suspension is broken. Once satisfied, proceed to arrange for a date to pass the suspension over. I have my own stock suspension so I won't be needing yours.

I'm speaking from my experience as I've used this coilover for my previous ride.

I've owed 2 sets before, as I've crashed my car once in a downpour( ive used semi slick in my previous ride and apparently overly complacent at that point of time)The reason for getting a replacement in kind was due to the confidence and comfort I've enjoyed.

I felt that the comfort PSS10 offers is superior over OEM item. Over road undulations, it gave a 'rounded' feel over OEM which often, feel crashy and easily bottom out over bigger bumps.

I suspect your installer has over compressed the springs for a lowered ride height and hence making the ride too hard for your butts.

I suggest you go back to your installer to decompressed the springs slightly, the ride height could still be compensated without compressing the springs too much.

Why don't you try this before selling it away?
