Scrapping a R171 SLK - Advice Needed

Hi forum people

 

My slk is reaching its 10 years and I have decided to scrap it. I am wondering if anyone here has done the process before?

 

I am curious on the scrap value and the metal? value of the car.

 

If anyone can kindly let me know, It would be greatly appreciated.

I like to share....

 

I just de-registered (or scrapped) my mini cooper S for the purpose of exporting.

 

If you are planning to scrap, the earlier you do it, the more monies you get back...whats reflected online on One motoring is the minimum amount one can expect to receive upon scrapping.

 

As mine was still in very good condition, I decided to put it up for sale hoping someone will renew its COE but as expected, no one took the bait.

 

Until a KL chap called wanting to export and offer a high car body value so I took the offer to export.

Now my ride can continue his adventures abroad.

 

So if you ask me, get it exported and you are guaranteed a higher amount than the scrap value.

Now I understand why SG cars are targeted over the causeway (no offence intended).

 

If you just want to scrap it, be sure to dekit and sell parts to recoop some monies back...on top of the scrap value guaranteed.

I think is a good idea to renew it if the condition is good. For $10k a yr, is a good deal for the current market.
