W211 headlights

Anyone encounter headlight problem. The left side headlight seems to fail frequently. My workshop Zenith said this is a common problem for W211 and W212 model. Due to severe heat from the bulb, the wirings insulation were bared and cause the bulb to blow and worse the complete headlight assembly needed to be change. Anyone can recommend a lighting workshop that can re-wire the headlight assembly?

My friend has a W212 and has never had this problem. But the W211 and 212 have different headlight designs. The common headlight issue I know of for the W211 is the HID lights, either the ballast or the ignitor has problems. Changing the headlight assembly won't help. I'm assuming you have HID's? Try testing your lights with a aftermarket HID kit first, if it works fine that should confirm that it's the stock HID issue. If you still have issues, someone on another board mentioned that maybe the wiring pins were not making a proper connection.

check the head light wires.  When I changed HID bulbs to my CLK when it was 6+ years old, found that some of the insulations on the wires were melted.  The workshop ppl just add new insulation sleeves to each of those wires.  Headlights running fine for 2+ years already.

W211 is stock with Halogen , Halogen bulbs produce much more heat than HID bulbs therefore it's a very high possibility that the cables has start to melt or the wires has some issues .

Check with those workshop that does aftermarket HID conversion to see if they could fix your wiring issues. Just guessing if it's a wiring issues , or it could also be the bulb issue.

I would recommend Nightz Concept to check if they are able to fix this issue for you.

My W220 had a blown bulb which was caused by wiring issues , since my headlight was changed for less than 2 months the workshop replaced the whole headlamp unit for me.

The world Most dangerous thing is the Vehicle. Its not about the machine weather its slow or fast. Its the person who is controlling it. The driver is the brain of the Machine. Not the machine itself.

If the driver reacts slow even the most powerful ABS(Auto braking system) will not help. The driver has to give the car the command in Order for the car to react. Afterall he is the brain of the car.

You mentioned that changing the stock headlight to HID with lesser heat produced. Is it just changing the bulb or the whole headlight assembly? If changing just the bulb, I might as well ask them to add more insulation to cover the bare copper wires.

Bro,

Accessory shop should be able to help you rewire the Headlamp Wiring.

There's no need to strip the headlamp assembly if your W211 is a Pre Facelifted.

If it's a Facelifted version, the Headlamp have to be strip to rewire the Internal Wiring.
