What mods void your warranty?

Recommended Posts

Hey brothers and sisters, I'm thinking of changing the air filter of my new c180 to k&n, add in a rear spoiler, install a strut bar and also change the exhaust tips. Does anyone know whether these mods affect/void the C&C warranty? Thank you so much as I'm new into the merc world.

I check with My SE these modes won't visual mod, stut bar won't void your warranty , just don touch your electronic systems

The world Most dangerous thing is the Vehicle. Its not about the machine weather its slow or fast. Its the person who is controlling it. The driver is the brain of the Machine. Not the machine itself.

If the driver reacts slow even the most powerful ABS(Auto braking system) will not help. The driver has to give the car the command in Order for the car to react. Afterall he is the brain of the car.

The general rule of the thumb is that warranty will not cover the particular modded component, or if the cause of the fault is linked to the modded component. The rest of the vehicle will still be covered. Example, if your third party mechanic did not firmly secure your strut bar and it detaches halfway during drive and damages the engine bay, please don't even try claiming the damages thru warranty. That being said, this is just a general rule of thumb. Please do not quote me in the event you need to claim warranty. At the end of the day, it's still up to the agent's discretion to allow claim.

Wear and tear items such as the mentioned air filter are not covered under warranty in the first place.

As keltanky mentioned "Want to Mod, Don't Scared, If Scared, Don't Mod."

Paintwork got warranty meh?

I guess so. If collect your car within one year the paint corrode, won't it be covered?

PS: Do remember to return to Cycle to do any paint job repairs! As quoted: "3-year warranty on all spray paintings"

Ahhh, so basically cycle will point to your mods and fault you for the problem should you go back to them with a warranty claim? How about air filters? Should I swap back to the stock each time during servicing or only during claims(touch wood!)?

Arr... I advice u, refer to post number 2. Haha

If nt doing it ur way also ok, dun complain abt hassle... Swap. Lol.

I think this statement is not fair on C&C to say they'll fault your mods for any problem you encounter. Having said that, you should exercise some caution to revert back to stock on warranty claim issues. Example, if your front lights are spoilt and you've previously changed to HID. Revert back to stock then send in for warranty claim. My car has K&N air filter, HID lights, DRL always switched on module, quad sport exhausts, etc. I sent my car in for warranty claim when my steering wheel motor spoilt and they fixed it within warranty. No questions asked about any of my mods. And absolutely no finger pointing to say maybe my DRL light module or sports exhaust caused my steering wheel motor to spoil, etc… Common sense always prevail.
