new lexus ES250 test drive.

Drive the hybrid luxury variant yesterday ($257K).

Impressed with comfy/quietness.

Nice blind spot monitor and LED fog lights.

Spacious rear interior passenger space, no rear centre hump, taller roof line (better than the more costly GS)

Auto boot (power tailgate) unfortunately could not be closed from inside.

And the hybrid version cannot opt for the panoramic glass roof (moonroof std for all),

also only one exhaust compared with nice twin for non hybrid.

Hybrid version supposedly can get 1000km per full tank of only 65km.

This ES will likely compete with E class/5 series/A6/

2.5l, 181hp, 6 speed front wheel drive. What does Toyota, I mean what Lexus is thinking think?

There is a cheaper way of getting this, that is to get the similar specs Camry and stick the lexus badge.

lexus cars are definitely not your camries....but i agree it is overprice...esp. the IS.

You're dethpicable.

Still prefer the ES300 of the yesteryears.....

ironically. I traded in my E200 for the ES some 12 years ago... and I never regretted. .. cos the E klasse back then was a tank....

alphard96 ..... For sure once u collect your car u will regret it.... U will think S300 is still a better choice.....

When I traded my S280 in .....for a C180.....on the day i drove the car out of the showroom i keep kbkb.....cos the car is very very disappointing compared to my S class.....

soon maybe when w223 u will come back to merc

The world Most dangerous thing is the Vehicle. Its not about the machine weather its slow or fast. Its the person who is controlling it. The driver is the brain of the Machine. Not the machine itself.

If the driver reacts slow even the most powerful ABS(Auto braking system) will not help. The driver has to give the car the command in Order for the car to react. Afterall he is the brain of the car.

Thanks for the advise, hope no regrets in returing to Japanese "toyota" brand.

Frankly love the smooth transmission and silence, despite only 4 cylinder (non V6).  Merc is prestigous yes but personally find lexus powertrain less jerky and almost non existence problems/reliability issues. Also, FWD is actually better in terms of interior space due to absence of central hump at the rear seat, in fact roomier than the more powerful latest GS.

For this ES300h, supposedly warranty 5 yrs unlimited mileage, battery 10 yrs plus free maintenance first year.

Heard that there were already seven S class and one 7 series owners who had "converted" to ES past 3-4mths.

Look out for C&C Nov 2012 diamond white w panoramic roof in sgcarmart in 2-3 weeks time....see how much dealer profit.

Lexus also easier/ much cheaper to activate watching dvd in motion or add digital tv tuner....

ps: for those selling their merc, remember to clear/spent your 3-4K of service credits, can buy all those luggage bags, miniature models etc.
