Thank you for all the kind advice. I called Stamford themselves in Jurong to ask. I was told this rim is suitable only for Volkswagon and Jap cars only. Hopefully this can be solved peacefully. Would like all these vibration to stop.

Thank you! Will keep you all updated

I suspect they will play Taichi... hope U still have the receipt.... that'll help a lot in your arguments....

Just as I thought. They sold you a set of rims of the wrong specs - 5 x 114.3PCD .

Our Merc rim's specs are 5 x 112 PCD. The difference of 2.3mm makes a world of difference! You need to exchange the rims to the proper specs

It's wrong for the shop to sell you a wrong set of wheels. This is concerning safety and this shall never be compromised. If the facts are true, it is unethical of the sales person and he/she shall be made to take this responsibility to change at no costs!

Update: The shop actually offered to replace the rims (before I even complained) without testing. I just said it is not suitable for my car. In fact I have to say I was very surprised they offered to change so quickly, makes me feel something is really very wrong. However, they are offering to put reconditioned rims in. I said no, I paid for new rims, i should not have be given a set that does not fit my car, hence I see no reason in taking reconditioned. So now they are waiting for further direction from their higher up.

At least it is moving in a positive direction for now.

Edit: I did mention as well that I would like a model number before having them replaced so that I can run them off you pros!

bro, good to hear... maybe their boss has an account here, anyhow, good that they are making right what is wrong.

from www.alloywheelsdirect.net, if your 2005 R171 18" stock rim is like this below and you are happy with maintaining 18" and staggered then offset should be around 37 front and 34 rear with tire profile 225/40/18x7.5" front and 245/35/18x8.5". PCD 5x112, center-bore not sure though.

Update: they wish to give me reconditioned rims. I do not feel that's fair since I purchased new rims. It's not my fault that they chose to put something incompatible on for me. So after two calls the in charge called to say they have no stock (entire Stamford) and only have reconditioned rims and asked if I could go down and have a look?!?

Not Bro lah... That's why so much problem... Obviously knew that I knew nothing and would probably never find out.

Is anyone familiar with what rims Stamford sell and can recommend something similar that would fit my car?

Thanks!.

Sorry sis. Wow Stamford also make such a boo boo. Recond rims I think is just BS. Such a big establishment cannot find any?! That's shocking.

Why not ask for full refund? If they agreeable maybe u can visit some of the site sponsors for a set of rims and return the Rays ones after installation.

If cannot then have to ask who here has gone to Stamford for rims to know what might fit.

U can try their in house brand SSW if refund is not possible.

Most Rays wheel Stamford carries but Rays mostly jap and some models meant for euro cars are mainly BMW with 5x120 PCD. Only one that is on Rays website but not on Stamford is the 57motorsport's G07EX with 5x112 and CB 66.6 which may fit depending on wheel spoke design to clear your calipers.

Nonetheless once u do find your rims make sure the lug bolts is compatible.

Honestly I have lost faith. I doubt they have my tyres and old rims after 6 months

Don't accept their offer of 1-1 replacement. The SSW wheels are the cheap ones, a lot of replicas of popular brands...a world of difference from their Rays wheels. Tell them to refund you fully. The way to go around this is to go another tyre shop to buy the right rims/tyres (Try Leong Seng or Hurry Tyres)...tell Stamford that you will bring the Rays wheels & tyres back for the full refund. Hire a cab to load these wheels & follow it back with your car to Stamford.

SSW = Stamford Sports Wheel and i thought they were made in Thailand?

You paid for VR C345, one piece forged wheels vs Thailand cast wheels?
I will never use them.. Refund go elsewhere.. my preferred place is leongseng @ paya ubi..

As what they said, no stock it can be true, i waited 3months for my rims.

Pls update us on the case. I'm curious and shock that they can even make such a mistake..

Hope you can get full refund.. Or get them to lend you a set while they order and replace the right ones for you..

Good luck!
