My car over-steered today and It does not go above 40km/h. Stopped at road side to check and my car show D2. Disengaged my gear to DS and managed to drive back to normal anyone experience such issued before?

The world Most dangerous thing is the Vehicle. Its not about the machine weather its slow or fast. Its the person who is controlling it. The driver is the brain of the Machine. Not the machine itself.

If the driver reacts slow even the most powerful ABS(Auto braking system) will not help. The driver has to give the car the command in Order for the car to react. Afterall he is the brain of the car.

Unless it is gearbox or engine over heat resulting in limp home mode, then it is shouldn't happen. Maybe you hit the paddles or something.

Never happened to me from oversteering.

Could it be the gear shift issue you had previously?

This is minor ....that one more major haha....maybe it is linked...

Which model is your ride? For all RWD Mercs.... with traction control on...it's impossible to oversteer, unless you switched it off deliberately.

S280L and I nvr turned that off and even it's turn on over steering is possible

For a RWD Mercs, with modern traction control switched on, power oversteer is unlikely but for a big heavy car like an S-class, it is still possible to induce lift-off oversteer and weight transfer oversteer with crazy driving, bad tyres or poor road condition. Generally, with such oversteer scenario, the stability control takes a while longer to get the car back in line.

Oh...so it's wet condition. Getting 'stuck' at 2nd gear when you over power to oversteer is normal then as the car reads the road condition with traction control on to be as Snow mode. When at snow mode, the car will always be at 2nd gear by default for stability & safety.
