Rear lamps wiring short-circuited

The title might not reflect the problem appropriately as I am not familiar the technical terms.

The problem started when the reverse sensor started beeping when I start the car engine. It starts with a few short beeps and go off after the car moves. After that it started to get worse with intermittent beeps even when on the move. Today, after a series of beeps, I started to get error messages on the entire range of rear left lightings - fog, brake, signal, etc. so no choice, I had to pop over to workshop for a check.

To my horror, I was told that the wirings to the board that holds all the lamps have short-circuited and melted part of the board. As the reserve sensor taps the power from the rear left wiring, it went "berserk" as a result. I replaced the board and the electronic connector and everything is fine now.

But my concern is if the wiring could melt the board, wouldnt it mean it is also a fire hazard? Just sharing in case others experience similar issues. Advice is to quickly replace it.

Cheers
