Squeak free interior and roof

I just bought a pre-owned SLK. The car had some squeaking sounds from the interior, doors and convertible roof. This is probably due to wear and tear as well as hardening of the rubber seals and parts.

I searched online for a solution and found Krytox a Dupont product. Its expensive but it works! Found someone locally that bought a tub and is splitting it into 1 oz tubs. He's not making a profit, just a DIY enthusiast.

PM me if you wanna know where to get it. I'm just overjoyed that the annoying noise has stopped.

you are right bro, several variants of Krytox on the web, the local seller sells GPL205 at sgCarStore under soft top repairs, or type 'Krytox'.

Thats interesting news. I Googled it, and it seems that there's quite a few variants of Krytox.

So which one is suitable for the convertible seals?

I suppose its down to individual preference. Some say the oil type is better, some prefer the cream for application as it doesn't get too messy.

I just got what I could locally.

Using a high density sponge as applicator. Just massage Krytox into the seals.

Let me know if anyone has used the oil based soution, I think its 105. Curious to know if that works better.

Thanks sis Queens for your referral to Bernard for me to buy Krytox GPL205 (premium grade cream version) from his home tonight. Before visiting him at 8.30 pm, I read many testimonials about his Krytox from BMW and Volksagen forum

Bernard spend almost an hour helping to pinpoint my E250 cabriolet roof and door squeaks with me sitting inside the car. With a little Krytox we lubricated at the edge of the roof and the rubber strip surrounding the roof and doors, to test the result, he ask me to sit back inside the car and tried to press the roof and windows again. The squeaks were GONE!

Next, I showed him some deep scratches from my front fender, as I am keen to know about his German high performance scratch remover called Quixx, he demo the removal of the scratches with Tube 1. Within minutes, the scratches vanished, and he help buffed the shine back using Tube 2. I was so impressed with the result that I bought a set from him. To all bro and sis who wish to know where to contact Bernard, go to sgCarstore and search for Krytox GPL205 and Quixx.

Hey Desmond! no worries! Yeah, Bernard is really helpful and a DIY enthusiast. He even does PDR for his own car lol. I got a set of Quixx but never got around to using it. Did he use the ultra fine sandpaper that was included in the set for the deep scratches? I shall set aside a day this weekend to fix minor scratches.

Enjoy your squeak free ride! Regular application of Krytox maybe 4-5 times a year will keep your seals in good supple shape :)
