W213: Modding to Night Edition Look

Recommended Posts

Have been attracted to the Night Edition (not Night Package) look of the S-coupe (https://www.mercedes-benz.com/en/mercedes-benz/vehicles/passenger-cars/s-class/s-class-coupe-night-edition-even-more-exclusive/). So I tried to mimic the look on my W213. Result is in the album:

What I did:

1) Matte silver part of front grille change to glossy black (spray painted)

2) Side mirror cover change to glossy black (spray painted)

3) Front low lip change from chrome to glossy black (wrapped)

4) Rear bumper chrome trim change to glossy black (wrapped)

5) Side chrome trim change to glossy black (wrapped)

6) Titanum part of rims change to glossy black (spray painted)

7) Attach "Night Edition" badge to fender

8) Wheel hub caps changed to black (model year 2016 ones come with silver hub caps, but model year 2017 onwards come with black)

9) Hood emblem changed to black (model year 2016 ones come with silver hub caps, but model year 2017 onwards come with black)

Since you have already put in some much efforts to improve on the look on your car, maybe you can consider changing the trunk badge from E250 to E300? :)

Hahaha. It would be easy to spot the difference without the AMG line bodykit and the BBK. I was actually contemplating modding to the E43 look (I've already done the quad exhaust tip), but there is no replica AMG line bodykit yet (the original is too expensive).

Nice!

I got myself an E200 AVG Diamond Blue with metal trim and brown leather. Not the most exciting combi. But I am looking at swapping out the stock front grill with the Diamond grill.

The other thing I am looking to do is to upgrade the audio.

but meanwhile... I am following your thread to get some ideas on how to mod mine. I think Diamond Silver abit hard... have not seen many of them on the road so far.

Where would you be changing to the diamond grill? is the diamond grill original or aftermarket?

To be honest, I only started thinking about modding after I saw this thread. So I only been googling. I will probably check the sponsors here or maybe a shop in Kaki Bukit. I think it is Benzline.

Do you have any recommendation? Are you also looking to install Diamond grill?

I was considering either selenite grey or diamond silver. I wanted the beige interior because my last ride had black interiors and I find the beige interior refreshing and spacious. However, the diamond silver does not come with a beige interior option. So I went for selenite grey. But diamond silver is a nice color and makes the car look bigger.

I am thinking about changing to diamond grill but I would prefer a original one as I don't want to face any issue with the quality later. Is the audio that you will be upgrading to is the burmester system for the whole car which includes the tweeter on both sides?

Yeah, don't buy china ones. The fit is not good. Lots of negative feedback on taobao. The Taiwanese ones on eBay are ok. A lot better in quality.

For the diamond grill, I share the same concerns as you. Also I read that the grill itself is made up of several parts and configurations.. ie front camera positions etc. i will spend the next few weeks to check around and probably wait until I have the car and then finalise.

For the audio, I am not going Burmester. Got heavily poisoned. So will probably go the Mosconi/Helix with two amps and a subwoofer + sound proofing. But that will be done at a later stage.

Since you have made quite a bit of changes to  your car, would you change your sound system to burmester?

But aesthetically, the burmester tweeter looks very nice! The rest of the speakers can just add a cover which you did.

Indeed very nice, but costly. There are Chinese replicas that come quite close, and without having to code.

May I know where you got your rear spoiler? Thanks!
