+1, I would also like to know specifics as I was thinking about replacing my TMC box with Brabus in the future.

Sori Bro, been diverted. It cause my engine to run extremely rich with the engine running rough. I think the fault code was P0172. Based on the code it indicates following 1. air to fuel sensor problem, 2. Engine air leak (intake) so not enough air to mix. There r 2 additional possibles n they relate to air fuel control.

Cut it short, Brabus & First Auto still trying to decide which is the problem, engine components not functioning correct or the pose kit is causing a problem. Brabus represented by Autovox which use to be close to First Auto. Now don't know.

But when it was working, it was fun to drive.

Hope this helps.

If I were to look for power kits I definite will look for one with GOOD local support.

Well most tunes will run your car more rich specially on a turbo car as to avoid detonation. As for your fault codes, did you try to clear them and see if they returned? I had some issues like this where the fault code appeared once and once was cleared didn't come back.

Regarding warranty, Brabus states a 2-yr warranty no? If it's still within the 2yrs then there should be no discussion about who is responsible UNLESS, you didn't buy it from them or an authorized dealer and/or you didn't have an authorized Brabus tech install it.

Regardless, sorry to hear about your problems though I think aside from the cost of Brabus and your warranty issue, seems like the tune is pretty much what other companies are doing.

Thanks for your response.

Agree with u on the more rich issue, however the rich settings is more for cooling and not detonation as I understand. That's caused by wrong (often lower than recommended) octane values. The codes were cleared and re-appear.

Funny was told Brabus is lifetime warranty.

FYI, First Auto is/was the authorised dealer and installer when they were holding hands with Autovox. Was told that the arrangement is Autovox component distributor, First Auto will sell their cars

"BRABUS" kitted (that's why there are Mercs running around with the BRABUS badge. That should clear your issue of my system not authorised installer. There is more to the issue of responsibilities as First Auto, Brabus and Autovox seems to be giving each the runaround. BRABUS is of opinion their system don't fail.

There is only one distributor for BRABUS and that is AUTOVOX (as far as I know), which incidentally also closed their workshop last year. So they now don't have hands on tech support only verbal support.

The BRABUS B25S is more than the local tunes, the waste gate has an upgrade so is the intercooler.

Good luck if you decide BRABUS is for you.

Wow, that seems like a huge headache, really hope it works out for you. I'm looking at the B20S kit, did not know there was also an upgraded wastegate. I am still considering it as the price is quite high, also Carlsson has almost the same kit minus the wastegate and $$$.

What petrolatum re you running? If you are using something like v-power that has 98 Ron, you may want to try switch to some other petrol that is lower RON. Most piggy backs are tune on the assumption that we are running 95RON. You may want to ask them to check with Brabus and replace with another piggyback tuned for 98 RON.

Must admit, didn't think of that. I've been running on RON 98 from Aug last year. Had did issue from Dec. only recently gone back RON 95 after CNY.

Thanks Bro.

Actually it is very easy to verify. Just unplug and bypass it, drive for one to two days. If problem is gone, confirm it is the piggy back that cause problem. Didn't the agent do that for u?

Had it bypass n ran for 2 weeks now no return of problem. They have written to Brabus for a replacement. Don't know when is ETA for replacement that is if Brabus concurs with First Auto.

My own diagnosis points to the air/ fuel sensor, but happy to let the specialist attend to it.

Issue is the frustration when Brabus, Autovox and First Auto don't seem to have a good working relationship. So guess who suffers.

Thanks for the input . Will c how soon this issue is resolved.

If u bypass and no problems, it is obvious that the Brabus piggy got problem.

Bro,

Regardless of which is causing the problem, the issue is the "workshop, authorised dealer, Brabus" screwing the user.

My point is poor service support. I do agree mechanical or electrical it can fail. Getting it sorted out and if under warranty is the problem.

Beware the purchaser of unreliable sellers.

Thanks for the input.

Update,

Autovox (Brabus) replaced the harness with an updated one. Also confirmed power kit no problem. So been running ok.

BTW - Brabus warranty is 3 years. Make sure your component has been certified by the local Agent to have your warranty valid. This was from local agent.

FYI

i rather get racechip pro than brabus. 1 brabus = 5 racechip pro.. u do the maths

Yes you could, but I've known of a couple of A-class owners in Hong Kong that have had their sensors destroyed after installing the Race Chip boxes so I wouldn't be so keen on that cost saving. There are many alternatives to Brabus that won't cost you Brabus $$$.
