Rattling headrest

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Need help on squeeky headrest.

Passenger headrest has been rattling and produces a irritating squeeky sound over uneven roads.    Sent to both CNC and outside ws but all could not resolve issue unless i replace headrest or even car seat.

Any suggestions before I lose my sanity from the torturous squeeky sounds. Thanks all.

Lower the headrest to the lowest position if no one is sitting on the passenger side....that is pretty much the only thing you can do without spending $$

I did many things previously, stuffing foam in gap, cable tie internal glide rail, short of taking the whole seat apart, nothing works.

Finally remove the headrest completely and bend the 2 metal rods inwards/outwards to create a "tightening alignment"

The noise is gone completely

That's what i did to my W221 after suffering for 1.5 years

Easily DIY-able

Always had the impression that the headrest is a bit troublesome to remove, you removed the passenger seat back cover first right?
