W208 cabriolet

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have been driving a CLK320 in France as my holiday car in France for a few years. My almost 10 year old Peugeot 307CC was about to go for recycling when I saw a red 2001 CLK200 for sale and could not help but buy her. This is a very rare car in Singapore and it was an occasion not to be missed. No need to say that I love the W208. It is one of the most beautiful car ever designed yet practical for everyday use with a luxury feel, a relax drive and enough power to please the senses.

The car had 2 owners and only 100,000km on the odo. The condition looks pretty good for a 16 year old car and the engine and gear box are really smooth. With a depreciation lower than a Corolla it was a no brainer!

I am having some difficulties to source for parts and get some minor repairs done. I would be glad if other owners of W208 can help in that department:

  • Some oil under the rear seat seems to indicate there is a leak on the hydraulics of the roof mechanism. The roof mechanism otherwise operates very smoothly. Need to find the leak and fix it.
  • The passenger seat folding forward mechanism is faulty. There is no resistance moving the lever upward but you can hear an electric motor noise. Probably need to change the mechanism.
  • The gasket on the rear side window is getting loose and damaged. I tried to change the adhesive but it is not good enough. Needs to be replaced with proper parts
  •  The passenger door handle, indoor, passenger side is broken. Need to find a replacement part.
  • (edit) also need to replace both windscreen water spray nozzle on the bonnet.

My car workshop does not have the manual for this model and they are not able to identify the part numbers. They cannot help with the roof hydraulics either. Your help is most welcome.

Have a nice weekend,

Alain
