Good workshop to recommend for servicing

I think the reason why people PM instead of share workshop information openly is because they don't want to seem like they are advertising for the workshop or be accused of self-promoting. Luckily self promotion isn't a huge issue in this forum.

Also, the good thing about Merc is that they are relatively simple to service and there is a huge Merc population in Singapore. Most competent workshops will be able to service Mercs. There is no need to go to a specific workshop and I wouldn't say that there is a best workshop to service a Merc, except maybe, C&C.

It’s not advertising or self promoting realli.

its dat monkey see, monkey do ,type of syndrome.

Actually the PM thingy realli started with the wshop/dealer or the business side of it,those are there to protect their own Interest, price wise.

But for us,the more info the merrier
Another bad practise in the forum is ,ppl noes how to enquire but dey dunno how to update.

Forumers also interested to noe ,is dis recommendation is as good as it is?

U mention C&C?

dey realli got indifferent result,I used to go to Ubi side, pretty alrite ,recently juzz check out Pandan loop side,it’s worse of the worse!

i go in once ,I’m back with 5 issues, complain here & there ,my  mail to SA supervisor, svc ass mngr, svc mngr, customer rep, still not settle.

and we are NOT talking abt price,I noe it’s pricey but must also have some std mah, haiz.

specialise wshop is a must, dun think u fancy somebody doing trial & error on yr pride & joy.

G6 & tech choon are the better ones.

Sometimes forumers ask for for "good workshop" recommendations.

I PM them some of the workshops I frequented in the past especially when my ride has more warranty

This's to be fair with the site sponsor workshops especially I am a Forum Moderator

Most forumers goes back to CnC usually their rides are still under warranty.

Sometimes is not the services of CnC are bad but like any organization you've employees performance ranging from excellent to very poor.

Meaning at times it's not the Company but the people.

Poor performers might still exist especially when their direct superior are too kind.

I usually send my car to Alexandra but this week Wed, I sent it to Pandan Loop for the 45k km or normal Service A - Lubrication

Why Pandan Loop?

1, There was no slot available at Alexandra MB Centre that was convenient to my date & time (I am stationed in Jakarta)

2. I am requesting for a Free Maps Update for my COMAND Navigation (My ride VIN Data has Code 502 - 3 years of Free Map Updates). Only Pandan Loop can do the S.E.A COMAND Maps Updates. They did the free Maps updates for me last year for the 20198/2019 Maps Ver. 7.0 Now COMAND NTG5.5 Ver 8.0 S.E.A 2019/2020 Maps are available.

Last Wed, I sent my ride to Pandan Loop and spoke to the SA.

Told him about my request for the Free S.E.A Ver. 8.0 Maps updates and do the normal Service A Lubrication (Engine flush, engine oil, engine additive, aircon filter (1 year), air filter clean or change & the full Diagnostic Checks. He said he will check for the Free Maps Updates for me.

While waiting for the shuttle bus to take me to Clementi MRT Station, the SA came back to me.

1. He told me 2 of the fuel pump hoses are hardened and he will get them replaced under warranty

2. My driver door hinge, there's a sound during opening and closing. They will try to lubricate it and if the sound persist, they will have to change the door hinge since it's still under warranty (They've to spray paint the door hinge to my car color and the car has to stay overnight)

3. Told me my battery is almost 3 years old but the battery still good and need charging up to it's full capacity. Told him I will change it outside one of these days.

4. He told me whether to rotate my tires but added my wheels are staggered. Told him I've downgraded from stock 18" staggered to 17" same size all round - for a softer ride with slimmer, quieter (imho stock Runflats are noisy) and cheaper tires. Told him to rotate my wheels. He asked me what tires I am using - I told him Michelin Primacy 4 225/55/17 and he noted in agreement that these are good tires.

5. He asked me about my brakes - Told him I changed the rotors & pads in outside workshop last year.

He WhatsApp me later to inform me that they will be changing the driver side door hinge and they've upgraded my COMAND Navigation to the new Ver 8.0 S.E.A Maps FOC and car will be ready next day Thu evening. Told him, I am leaving town and my wife will collect my car this Fri morning. (my wife just reached MB Pandan Loop Servicing Centre 5 minutes ago :) )

If I send my ride to the workshops I frequented in the past for a normal Service A lubrication job & probably saved me $100+,  this experience above not likely to take place.

Over the years, I've met many CnC SAs (Alexandra, Eunos & Pandan Loop)

Most are ok to good but this guy tops them all. Maybe I was lucky this time :)

Food for thoughts!

Oh ya! No more free curry puffs & pastries at Pandan Loop. :(

Last Wed morning, I was served free Mee Siam instead by the same Indian lady who has been working for CnC for >20 years

Free Khong Guan Lemon biscuits puff & coffee still available :)

Cheers

I'm a MB Whore! :)

Good to see u saying good things abt C&C .

Many ppl onli complain here when service is bad but when it’s good........

The 5 issues ,I have with Pandan loop is.....

# my online booking for a service slot is @ 9am.

My car onli wheel in @ close to 11,after twice chasing the SA.

# My floor mat,the plastic tray type “disappear”

after I collected my car, found wrap up in my boot,I ask why,Dey told me it’s for safety reason!

my car have the floor mounted accelerator pedal unlike the A,A,CLA

# I was billed for something & it was NOT being communicated.

# my instrument panel was changed to MPH !

#  my trip meter is being tampered with to 000

I have written to customer service,Asst mngr svc ,mngr svc without a proper explanation.

Keep apologising & ask what can I do for u?

To be fair to the SA Yee vong ,she have no control over all dis issues.

How can I escalate dis further?

To mercedes ,Stuttgart Germany

any feedback guys/gals

# my online booking for a service slot is @ 9am.

It mean the SA will see you at 9:00 am - time wheeling in your vehicle depends on the Q and workshop (WS) workload. If you want quick lubrication services, I believe Alexandra MB Centre has a quick service. However if you've other jobs other than lubrication, then you have to wait.

#My car onli wheel in @ close to 11,after twice chasing the SA. - The Workshop people dictate which car on their list get attention first not the SA.

# My floor mat,the plastic tray type “disappear” - Probably they don't want to dirty it when their guy drives your car. Not unusual for them to safe keep for you.

# my instrument panel was changed to MPH ! #  my trip meter is being tampered with to 000

Probably due to the Xentry Diagnostic Tests that your "Reset Trip Meter" was reset to zero - happened each time I sent my car in.

Yes! Some inexperienced guy probably didn't check the MPH setting after the Diagnostic Checks.

I have written to customer service,Asst mngr svc ,mngr svc without a proper explanation.

Why not see the CS Manager F2F and you can "banged table with him"

"To be fair to the SA Yee vong ,she have no control over all dis issues"

Yes! He cannot control the workshop! Why not ask to speak to the Workshop Manager? There's a Workshop Manager in Pandan Loop.

How can I escalate dis further?

Fair that you speak personally to the relevant Managers in Pandan i.e CS & WS Managers for answers and not through email if you're very upset and unhappy. See them F2F

"To mercedes ,Stuttgart Germany"

After speaking to the relevant Managers and still not happy, you can escalate to the Head of Operations Pandan Loop or write in to Diamler Benz Singapore. CnC is an AD of Diamler Menz.

I has not affiliated to CnC or any friends working in Pandan CS or WS. (Long time ago - yes - the Pandan Workshop manager & Cycle Technical Manager) & I do not get special treatment from Cycle.

Though my car is still under warranty, I still goes to outside workshops for Brake Pads & Rotors changes, battery, transmission oil changes, gear box and engine mountings and other major issues when I m confident the workshops can fix those problems.

Not forgetting CnC use only original parts and not OEM which some workshop do and they do your Xentry Diagnostic Tests with the latest firmware.

My damages for 45K km Service A Plus Package - could probably be much cheaper just lubrication - change oil & filter.

Good for you that you feel comfortable with Eunos!

You're right to say that our ride servicing is every 15k km and for most of us is about once a year for the service interval.

So feel good to go back to Cycle once a year for servicing even out of warranty.

Honestly I've not tried Eunos for a long time (way back in 2003) when I bought my W203 from Cycle.

Maybe I should try Eunos for next Service A ..serious!  :)

My next service will be Service B -60k km -Major servicing. (Transmission Oil change, Engine/Gear Box Mountings, Spark Plugs, Brake oil Change, Air filter, Aircon filter, etc)

Still pondering going to Alexandra or Pandan rather than Eunos

I am staying in the East and actually Eunos is the nearest MB Servicing Centre for me.

Probably "personal bias" that all these years I used Alexandra or Pandan

Pandan for me will usually be for Body work and Navi Maps Updates. (Eunos & Alexandra don't have these services)

Pandan - W203 repainted rear right side passenger door,  W211 - dented driver side A pillar, W164 replaced damaged left side side step, W204 resprayed rims (Last time got special rate :) )

I frequent Alexandra more for servicing

Probably ogling at the latest rides :)

Ali is not bad but it seems that he is not too updated with the newer Merc models. I find that his pricing is a little on the higher side though but he still service my cars.

Yes.. the pricing is on the high side.

I've been there for repair 2 times..

and the 2nd time was the last straw for me .... really ... marked up too much..  The 2nd repair was just last week. Don't wish to elaborate on what happen but I think trust is important. I trust you, but you cannot carrot me like that.  it's not   $200 or $300 mark up.. it's at the upper end.

he does gets the problem fixed but.. i'm not going back.

you just have to go to a few more workshops to find out one that works for you.  Trust is important. We know workshop needs to earn profit , so it is up to us to find out which workshop does reasonable markup.

For me, I know carousell prices are quite competitive and so you can use that as a baseline when you go to workshops to ask for repair.

Hi all,

I have been getting a Auto Lamp Inoperative message recently, when this happens, the dash light intensity will switch to max intensity.  Believe it might be a light sensor issue.

Any recommendation for a workshop good in the diagnostic and electrical stuff?    Anyone had a similar issue and got it resolved?

By the way, I'm driving a E250.

Thanks in advance !

Hi all,

Like to share that I have resolved this issue after replacing the light/rain sensor.  Total cost $254, including part, labor and calibration.

Working well so far !

Why try carousell for the list of workshop?

Down here sgmerc recommendation is plenty & there’s actual ppl who try it out.

carousell?u onli read the review,haha.

Hi @melvyeo,

The workshop is at Sin Ming Autocity, Kee Yong Auto,.   I have a good impression of this place, clean and well-equipped.

Not sure about the price though.

Do let us know your impression if you have your ride serviced there.

Ok

many ppl recommend K.Y ,I did check them out recently with my older mercs but dey dun seems keen on the older ones.

I might try another time with my newer ones but  I might NOT b too keen with them anymore.

was told specifically dey do dabble on the older ones as well.

I can bring new & old to G6 & tech choon,no problems, reckon ,if wshop starts to choose what dey wans in their workshop, dat will be a big issues!

I seems to read good review about Avantage VAG (Toh Guan), not see no mention of it here.

Anyone tried before?

I personally, have tried Kee Yong (Dave), friendly and non pushy service. Workshop look clean and professional.

Have also tried Kompressor. Ali was friendly, but felt he was trying a little too hard to get me to change some parts.

Review are mostly taken as a pinch of salt,

U wun noe who’s behind those write up.

forum discussion like dis are more acceptable.

As the name suggest VAG is more for vw & perhaps some audi too.

But  of course,u bring money there ,am sure ,they wun reject u.

Sure dey have dabs in MB before ,Reckon most workshop also have but are they more specialise?

u tell me?

I would rather go to the tried & trusted ,recommended ones.

Forget abt kompressor, used to b alrite but afraid, not anymore..

u can see my earlier post ?

recommended a few ,in my time.

i have read through this thread and it seems like some workshops are not made public.

forgive me if it sounds repetitive.

just got myself a 2009 C180K. given that it’s an old car, i feel there is a need to change a lot of things.

please do recommend a workshop that you can vouch for for the things i would like to change below:

KEYS:

- where to duplicate?

TYRES:

- any recommended model and brand

- type of driving: turtle driver here (100kmh) with occasional road rage if someone hogs the first lane.

BULBS:

- what’s the model? H7? Philips? no idea. 😞

WINDSHIELD:

- too much scratches and abit OCD. need to see clean glass

ROUTINE SERVICING:

- staying in yishun but dont mind travelling towards the west, central and north area

appreciate all the assistance. thankyou and apologies again if it is repetitive.

Kompressor Ali definitely overcharged. For instance, my father in law and I drive same merc model. We changed rotor and brake pads using original parts. I did the job at Kompressor while my father in law did exactly the same job at C.S 2-3 months later. When we compared the bills, I realised I was charged $350 more!

Nowadays ,ppl tends to Buy spares from stockist & Bring to wshop.

U gotta confirm with shop before Bringing it down, many wshop dun allow B.Y.O..P. & remembered the Labour will be a bit more(to b x’pected)

if u reckon he overcharge but there again u gotta considered it’s a Business, after all.

Noticed Ali is servicing Grab too to cover its Business.

Their front office where u check in yr car is like a 5 star hotel ,pretty impressive.

Needless to say their work is Top Notch too including their pricing.

When asking for workshop ,go for Good  & Mercs Specific ones.

Rather than Restrict yrself to Central or West.

If u wans Reasonable  price ,Buy yr own Spares.

Dey carry a few Brands ,Motul & Such but carry dis Local Brand AP oil From S’pore.

All in with 6 Litres plus oil filter pretty decent.Dun take Air Filter from them,Stockist cheaper.

Remember ,try to Change yr E.O every 6000 & yr Engine will be all Good.

For ppl Not in the Know ,Diesel oil is better ,dey have Cleaning agent in the oil .

Diesel Vehicle must always used dis Specs of oil ACEA ,Look for it in the Bottle.
