Good Workshop Needed to Overhaul my W140

Recommended Posts

Hi All Bros and Sis,

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

My old W140 S280 1992 needed a good overhaul as I intend to keep for another 5 to 10 yrs.

Appreciate recommendations on workshop / mechanics who are good at servicing this car at a reasonable rate in Singapore or JB.

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers

Sunny Tang

Yup..but pls do not expect the workshop condition like those in singapore .. got Kopi & sofa

They are hardcore mechanic .. that really do "repair" & not replace work..

I was there last year Dec to replace the crank sensor on my W204 ...

Planning to go there in a month time to change my engine mount.

I would say, they are good in sorting out engine mechanical problem, eg timing belt, cam, belt, pulley, suspension, mount, spark plug, engine oil change etc ... & not those electronic problem

P/S: it's nearby my parents place & I go north very often..

Try Kompressor Automotive Workshop

The owner Ali has an old Mercedes and used to work for C&C iirc. Used to go to him until I changed to a ride that was under warranty by third party workshop.

bro just to check do u have to pay for your checks at Kompressor Automotive Workshop? I  visited them after seeing some recommendation in the forum and ended up they charge me for checking the car and didn't give me any sound advice. In addition the repair cost he quoted is much more expensive than other workshops.  In the end I spend $60 and did nothing.... problem is still there and there's not concrete solution to it as he mentioned what he suspect may not totally eradicate the problem. So I guess it could be one of those tricks those old school workshops like to use. Anyone face the same before?

I keep comming across compressor in dis forum but it's different nowadays.

perhaps it's good back than, used to b from circuit Rd now premiere.

i live in circuit in the old days but I dun have a merk then.

i visited them later when I own my 1st mb ,a w204, then was good, love their DPS oil

but his Mechanic quit.

ali might b from c&c previously & drives an old mercs ,as a SA but he dun do the work.

same here,he's the boss, once his right hand man gone,he's struggling.

dats what I notice.

and nowadays he take in grab cars service ,not much time & space for our mercedes

no more.

pretty sad.

Yes.. the pricing is on the high side.

I've been there for repair 2 times..

and the 2nd time was the last straw for me .... really ... marked up too much..  The 2nd repair was just last week.

he does gets the problem fixed but.. i'm not going back.

you just have to go to a few more workshops to find out one that works for you.

For me, I know carousell prices are quite competitive and so you can use that as a baseline when you go to workshops to ask for repair.
