W211 Android System

Just checking has anyone changed your head unit set to these android system type ?

Come with DVD player, GPS, reverse camera, etc etc

Please share some info if possible.

Unfortunately, no. 

I went to one popular ICE installer to check if they could help me to install this android set.

They said Merc ICE is factory fit, if anyhow remove, the car motherboard will kana screwed up.

They offer me their Pioneer double din player with add on frame look like the picture below.

Total cost for player+frame+labour is $1.5k, which is way above my original budget.

Yes, picture for reference only..Not my car.

I think the frame look very plain..It will spoilt the original look of the panel...That why I did not agreed to install the pioneer set.

Frame you can use Carbon sticker to wrap it

Ok....after spending some time researching on which android set to get...I finally made the decision to jump into this project.

"To replace my obsolete Command NTG1 to aftermarket china Android set"

Ordered the set from Aliexpress...damage about $380 (include shipment and all extra acc..radio cable, backup camera, GPS etc etc)

Took my time over the new year holiday to DIY, learning from stretch...actually it is not difficult as there are tons of instruction video in youtube.

Anyway, here is the new look in my center "cockpit".

Im running the Pioneer AVH-5650BT for a few years already.

main gain is the bluetooth audio to play spotify and clearer reverse cam. don't really use the other functions really

I just change mine to android head unit at the cost of about $900.. (Yes, can get from Taobao around $200- $500)... My 1st regret..

Only gain is GPS and steaming from Youtube... Rest of the functions is ready supported in original head unit, or is useless..

Not necessary to spend that kind of money.. My 2nd regret...

Your original is NTG1 or NTG2 ?

Mine is NTG1, cannot plug in reverse parking camera and no bluetooth set, it is the main reason I changed my head unit.

Mine NTG2.. But still, i should go for normal 2 din Pioneer or Sony unit.. Or those cheaper Aliexpress / Sgshop android unit...

I felt stupid after all...

This is Torque Apps...connected to the OBD2...LIVE monitoring on the car performance...my wife said look so "Ah-Beng"..hahahaha.
