CLA bonnet struts...

Recommended Posts

I was rather disappointed when the CLA was launched & found out that the bonnet has no struts to hold it opened. This omission made the car look cheap...like an average Japanese car. Furthermore, the big turbo of a CLA45 made the front end bonnet & the prop stick very hot....it actually burnt my fingers when I unknowingly opened the bonnet on the 1st time after a long drive.

Jin ( a bro in this forum driving a CLA45 also) chanced upon this aftermarket struts made for CLA in a foreign CLA forum. It's made in Russia & I believe we took the last 2 sets when it was put up for sale online...snapped up very fast. All plug & play....no drilling.

Check out the YouTube.....

Great find! Perhaps can organise a group buy in future.

See from your decals you're also from SGCC! ✌️✌

Its about $165 all in.....took quite a while to deliver from Russia. Things move slowly over there.....

Btw....this Russian made struts are very solid & certainly looks better than the China made ones as shown by darksaint bro in taobao.

It opens wider than original ....for better access.

Thanks for the recommendation. This is indeed useful. Really don't understand why Mercedes don't include that as standard.

Ordered it for my W176 for 4300 RUB (about 90 SGD) and they shipped out the next day. Now waiting for delivery.

Lol...what's there to affect the warranty? Does it damage the car or body in any way? It's all a matter of bolts & nuts. At worst, the bonnet does not close if it's not properly installed....then take it out & try again.

hi all, am new around here.

Sorry but might i ask if the bonnet struts do anything to the warranty? C&C mentioned "likely not", but after sales coverage might or might not be an issue subsequently.

Thanks!

I've the taobao one installed in my CLA. Went back C&C to do my first servicing 3 mths ago. The C&C person who inspected my car saw it and said it was a good idea and commented all Mercs by default should have this. So no worries about warranty void or sorts...everthing went smoothly... the service reports/receipts didn't even mention anything abt it

This "small" mod (if I can even call it a mod) C&C won't even be bother to flinch an eye. There are people who go in with aftermarket exhausts, piggyback, BBK, modded headlight, body kits, etc.
