First time buying a Mercedes-Benz and it went from great to worst

At the end of it...take it in your stride, enjoy your need ride....don't think too much the additional time is for you to consider what mods you can do....

My previous ride was a Lexus and their customer service was top-notch!!

 

I fail to see why would anyone want to pay a premium to C&C for piss-poor service. Established PIs are way better.

Hi all,

Wanted to hear your views.

I always wanted a Mercedes so when I could finally afford one, I went excitedly to C&C and bought an E200 Edition E in Dec'15.

I originally wanted to collect the car on 12th Jan as it was our 8th wedding anniversary but was told 15th. 15th Jan came and the all excited me was told about some water mark issues and collection needed to be postponed to 18th. On the 18th, my sales consultant told me it's still not ready and if I find the wait ridiculously long, I can collect the car first and bring back for fixing later. In a fit of anger, I scolded him and called the mainline to change my consultant.

The sales manager took 2 more days to call me back and told me I could collect on 21st/22nd. Post that, there hadn't been any update at all.

I feel rather frustrated by all of these and wonder if my expectation of off track.

Would like to hear your opinions.

I;m even worse.. BRAND NEW CAR and 1st day first my car front drawer got problem, just had it replaced. Then now my reverse park side mirror tilt back, but not back to exact original position. sometimes miss by 1-2 cm..

 

I tot buying merc is buying quality, how come the quality control so bad or am I plain unlucky or is it common to have a few problems here and there when u get a new merc?? Lucky up to now my engine is doing ok... keeping fingers crossed

Not really. Never too late to learn.

If your ride doesn't have warranties tied to C&C, there are other workshops out there who do a better job.

 

When dealing with the C&C rep, never be afraid to state your expected demands of their servicing and how are they going to make good if your car breakdowns again. E.g. replacement car, what model, etc.....

Buying a Merc is more of a brand factor than anything else nowadays. Yes Merc used to be one of the top luxury premium brands which it still is ONLY when you talk about the S-Class, Maybach, Pullman. Even by classifying the 43 and 45 version of cars under the AMG brand purist will say those are not "real" AMG, especially when they made it more "affordable" to the masses with a 4 or 6 cylinder engine. Basically copying what BMW did when they slapped the M badge onto so many cars. Sad to say, Mercedes makes cars more to satisfy the accountant books than anything else. Same goes with BMW and Audi or any other major manufacturer. It's all about the numbers now.

I drive and owned many Mercedes Benz since 1980s , never expect any good service from C&C. But most importantly,  I enjoyed  driving this German build car, the prestige and the reliability.

I had toyota, nissan before. This is my first mercedes, a B180, got it 6 mths ago.

The number of times I sent my mercedes to service centre in the first 6 mths already equals the number of time I sent my toyota and nissan in 3 years (all warranty period of 3 years).

I never though this will  happen to mercedes becos i always have the idea that more $$$ means more reliability, guess I am wrong.

My problems:

1) The car compartment loose and key latch faulty, have to change a new compartment

2) Reverse gear side mirror after tilting down not returning to exact original position.

3) Sudden acceleration

4) Error message collision assistance inoperative

All within 6 mths since I got my B180. Went service centre 6-8 times because each time problem not solved have to return again. Especially problem number 2), in the end, i was told problem number 2) happens to the rest of B180 and the problem is not solved, have to turn off that feature.
