Sharing of experience - Service Clinic

Recommended Posts

Was invited to the service clinic as the ride is coming to 3 years old.

Fee was $50 but claimable as service credit for your next servicing.

My clinic was today and I was elated as there was this VERY LOUD clicking noise when the car is idling which goes louder when the engine is revved.  I was hoping for the staff to tell me what it is so that I can make an appointment another time to resolve it while under warranty.

My appointment was 4pm today and I was punctual.

The clinic was completed at 4.15pm and I was given a diagnostic list which states what was wrong with the car.  The diagnostic is similar to the one we get whenever we go in for our servicing while the rest are visual checks.

Me: "how about the clicking noise?"

CNC: "we did not hear any clicking noise."

Me: "but it is so loud - can't you hear?"

CNC: "we did not hear any clicking noise but if you insist, please make an appointment for us to find out.  here is your results, the free keychain, the $50 voucher and a $5 cash card.  thank you for coming."

I left very unsatisfied.  I went straight to Chip Soon, and within 5mins, I was told that my pulleys are loose and will need to be changed.  should be less than$300.

After years with CNC, overall experience is less than positive.  I am looking forward to a better experience elsewhere, soon.

For sharing.

Chersen, I'm just wondering why you did not highlight the noise when you hand over the keys to them? What may be obvious to you may not be obvious to others as you are the one driving it everyday.

thanks for sharing..

wah the service clinic last for 15min only..!? and it's just those normal diagnostic list provided during normal servicing.. definitely not worth the $50 and time.. end up give you $50 voucher , you need to spend more to utilise it again.. C&C damn smart.!

so can you book an appointment to go back and claim the pully under warranty?

I going next week.

Hope I don't face the same problem as chershen.

Been disappointed with C&C maintenance service as my car also has loud noise during engine start. Every time I complain to the service center. I need to send my car back at least 2 times, then they offer to change the idle pulley. Over the past 3 years, that idle pulley had been changed 2 times.

Wonder how much I need to pay for that pulley after the warranty period

Update on the situation:

I was utterly surprised to receive a call from the same SA who dealt with me on Thurs. He called to offer a re-check on my car, urging me to book an appointment with C&C on Fri. As I could not do it on Fri, he obligingly offered Mon instead. Told me to look for a Tommy at Pandan. I was quite surprised that they bother and this same SA had a totally different attitude when compared to my earlier encounter with him.

On reaching the Pandan branch, I was introduced to a Tommy Hart, a German specialist. A gentleman who apologised for a series of mis-communications that I have encountered at the Eunos Branch. He took the time to speak to me (apologising again) and offered to listen intensely to the sound. He was very surprised that at the Eunos branch, he was "isolated" from the customers, as compared to the Pandan branch. A earlier discovery w.r.t. a wheel bearing was also settled. The sound was identified to be a loose v-belt, and parts that required to be changed are the guide, tensioner and the belt. Tommy told me that someone will call me w.r.t. the repair.

Credit where it is due. This allowed me to cut some slack to C&C. I think the intent may be good but probably those at the frontline can do better.

I left satisfied.

P.S. Like I mentioned, I was surprised with the sudden interest to my concern. Honestly, I suspect that the C&C management is quite active in this forum to spot such anomalies.

Oh, Tommy!

I think it is see luck one. I managed to get 1 on 1 with him and I asked him a million questions during the 1 hour session.

If what you said is true, I would probably siam the non-German session.

P.S.: He tells me that he and one German colleague service the entire ASIA region. Nearly impossible to get him usually.

I solved this problem. My wiper doesn't judder anymore. Simple fix - you can do it too. Scroll down to view the solution.

Solution: Do what I do. Don't use your wiper.
