MB Specialist in Johor Bahru

Recommended Posts

Dear All,

I had a retractable roof failure on my SL350 just before the Lunar New Year and had the car in Johor Bahru.

I manage to find a fantastic MB Specialist after some recommendations and brought it to the workshop yesterday after

they opened.

Indeed this particular workshop specializes in Mercedes Benz as well as others such as BMW, Volvo etc..

The workshop is located at Permas Jaya, Bandar Bahru and the Owner is Mr Gan C.L.

MB Auto Garage

8 Jalan 9/2

Permas Jaya, Bandar Bahru (behind AEON - Jusco)

Johor Bahru.

Tel : +60-12-7082660

Mr Gan was very help and indeed a professional. He hooked up his diagnostic software as was able to run through the diagnostic

checks for the car. Unfortunately the diagnostics feedbacks did not show up on the failure as it pointed more towards mechanical

aspects. Within an hour, Mr Gan was able to pinpoint the fault to low hydraulic oil at the reservoir which was traced to a leaking hydraulic hose. It is now undergoing repairs and since the car was at his shop, I took advantage to have the car serviced with some other minor defects identified by Mr Gan put to good order.

I am delighted to have been recommended to Mr Gan of MB Auto Garage and I would not hesitate to recommend him to all MB owners. His workmanship is 1st class with full diagnostic services and well equipped tools. Topping it off is his very reasonable charges.

Do not visit this shop, replaced my radiator after he diagnosed and says its leaking, ended up is my hose and coolant tank leakage! Called him and he told me coz no stock for hose and therefore nv replaced! Bad business ethics, allow customer car to drive off just like that! Say will order hose and let me know when, went MIA! he did not even inform me that no stock for hose! told me its fully done and ok already!

Sorry to hear about your problems.

I came back last Saturday. My fourth visit. I did encounter issues w his less qualified staff but he is okay and generally most of the diagnostics is accurate.

My car was wrongly diagnosed in Singapore and it lead to battery problems. Last Saturday at his workshop, at one look at my engine, they saw that the battery that the Singapore workshop had given me was wrong! So bad advice can come from anywhere!

I had changed my battery since and will be monitoring it the next few weeks.

I would say (1) Parts are expensive in JB, labour costs not so different w SG nowadays. The advantage is lost (2) Parts are cheap in SG but Labour costs is expensive (I was charged S$300 in SG once a senior mechnic touched the car!).

His foreman was the one who diagnose and after Gan checked on my car, he confirmed the diagnosis made. to be honest, my issue now was they did not tell me my hose needs to be changed and they have no stock and expect me to go back again, they just say everything is ok now, they informed me after i called them when workshop in singapore told me my hose were leaking. anyway, got them to quote atf servicing and price quoted was higher than singapore. not cheap and imo, i wouldnt recommend this workshop to other users. thanks for feedback and information as well, cheers!
