NEW C CLASS LAUNCH - W205

Westlake

Recommended Posts

Off topic, sorry.

C&C's test drives of the new C-Class have started.

Saw a dark blue W205 along Alexandra Road today.

I am told, Mercedes cars assembled in South Africa come with steel engine guards (underbody).

German/European market Mercs are fitted with lighter "plastic" guards.

I call it "engine guard" because it is a piece of steel plate designed to protect the underside of the engine if you were to hit some rocks on a rough road.

When the mechanic removed it to change my engine and gearbox mounts, he had to get his assistant to help him lift it onto a jack before fixing it back onto the car.

It is about 80 cm by 80 cm.  On Singapore roads, I would prefer a plastic guard - should help improve the fuel consumption somewhat, perhaps very little.

still considering....

I am gonna throw a spanner into your works!

Take a look at this:

http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=418781&DL=2711

I got probably the first Touareg TDI September 2013.  It has just done its 30'000 km servicing.  For your info, Touaregs do not have to queue for service!  I seldom drive it but at the traffic lights, floor the throttle and feel that 2 tonne behemoth charge forward! Scary!  And 2 of the reasons I got the TDI were (1) torque and (2) cheaper fuel and better consumption.  I got about 10km/litre initially, reasonably gentle driving. Now I have not kept track of the consumption!

My price $310,000.  DasAuto is selling this for $259,000.  Bargain a bit. This is seriously another animal!

Tbh, dont look in short term gain

Maintenance, black smoke, most importantly.. They resale value..

For sure diesel is lower than petrol variant in sg.

Saving of a few hundreds or thousands is not able to cover paper lose.

Euro 5 still got black smoke... which era u living in .... ?
